Whooof! Just got back from driving back from JFD in Alabama! Boy my butt has been thinkin of Brent's and BARRY ZION's face ever since I left! Just becuase THEY deserve ALL the credit for my pain doin such the great job hosting this shindig. Brent up front...and Barry right behind him pumpin ALL that magic from behind the scenes. Give it up friends for BIG BARRY "Buzzzzy-Betts" ZION! 🙂 1800 miles is a lonnnggg drive. It is always worth the effort to spend a week thinkin on Duane Allman and his contribution for us all! *(And a week after as my butt and back forgve me)!! Last...boy what a treat to have been part of LEFTY's gig and Leanne's Bday party!! What a GREAT way to top off the DUANE ALLMAN tribute!! It was so great to see ALL thse folk up and dancin' to a REAL great band of players! There were even young folk there who became acquianted with the music of Duane as presented by Leftyand his Chicago veterans! I am personally grateful to have been able to play a bit...and WHAT a SMOKER of a Liz REED that was. Jeez! Lefty and JP on guitars were like two men POSSESSED!! And they didn't merely copy Duane or Dickey solo's note for note...they REALLY dug into the spirit of Duane and offered up their OWN licks! That was something I don't see often in the realm of Allman affecionados!! Gotta do it again REAL soon! Looking forward to seein' you all (y'all) next year...Somethin' BIGGER and Grander!!
