While last night was Angelica's first Allman Brothers show, tonight was Ronnie's first ABB concert.
Not quite the novice that Angelica was, Ronnie had been to see Gov't Mule the weekend before the summer tour began -- so he felt like a veteran tonight. Plus Ronnie had purchased -- with his OWN money -- an ABB compilation CD the last time we visited the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon. He hadn't told me until tonight, but he'd spent a lot of time listening to that album -- what a great kid!
So unlike his sister, Ronnie knew the names of all the songs and had a really nice feel for the artistry of the band. Like Angelica, Ronnie was most interested in meeting Derek -- but not because he's cute! Rather, Ronnie understood exactly how great a player he is.
We started the day at the HTW gathering at Chastain where there were at least 50 people enjoying the beautiful fall afternoon. I picked up my "I Miss Bill" T-shirt from BDOB and thanked him profusely for his good work. Ronnie spent more than an hour examining all the items up for auction before he begged his dad for some bucks. He ended up with several rare Beatles CDs from Bill's collection, but he wanted a bunch more! Too bad I didn't bring my BIG wallet ...
The show was amazing, better than last night, if possible. We had ninth row seats in the pit and could see perfectly -- it gave me so much JOY to look at Ronnie's face as he soaked up the best music in the world!
Ronnie got to meet everyone in the band and thoroughly understood how special the opportunity was!
I am truly blessed ...
