Carol in reading your post I was wondering why the bikers were booing Gregg. Was the music bad or were they still holding bad thoughts from back when the Schooter deal went down? A lot of the bikers and others never got over that. You mention Gregg was sick. Do you know why? This was 1998 you are talking about. He was still drinking a lot and getting high in those days. Drs. told Gregg to stop drinking years back. His brain was swelling up and could kill him. The past is not always the past. Sometimes it does come back and get you later. Gregg has seen the light and is trying to get his act together. I am sure we all hope for the best. What he is trying to do, is not easy. One of the hardest things in life. I know. This is not a put down. I am just curious about the whys. Your post brings sympathy, but did not tell why.
I do think people are just being honest about the band. Take the message to heart, don't kill the messenger. The band does draw a beer drinking crowd. That is why the can paper the gigs and still make money. This does bring some wild folks and they let you know it. I do not blame the man for getting out. I think it is good to remember only the die hards hang, and like whatever the band does. Some people do not want to sit through a 20 min. drum solo. I have always thought the drum solo was to long, and I love the drums. Some songs do go on and on. Gregg has said this numerous times. That is one reason the shows are shorter. If he could it would be 90 min. show and go home. Sorry that is a fact. Now that he is coming out of the woods maybe he has changed his mind. From what I hear I do not think so. I think a good approach would be to bring people along with kindness instead of putting the whip to them because they do not like what they are seeing or hearing.
