Hey now, let's give this guy the benefit of the doubt.
Andy, Gregg Allman has recently recovered from a long and debilitating treatment for Hepatitis C. The band cancelled the Beacon run this year so Gregg could recuperate, and this tour are the first shows the band has played in nearly a year.
It does seem like they are playing a few more long jams than usual on this tour, and it seems logical that the reason is to take some of the pressure off of Gregg.
Having said all that, I'm always stunned and amazed when somebody complains about the ABB playing too many long jams and not enough short, snappy 5 minute hits. To me, that is like going to a baseball game and being furious that they aren't playing football.
The Allmans pioneered extended improvisation in a rock setting back in the day, and this is why "Live At Fillmore East" is a fixture on Greatest Live Album lists. For a lot of people, myself included, the long jams are the best part of the show, the very lifeblood of the band.
You certainly have a right to your opinion, and I doubt anything I just wrote will change it, but I thought I'd take your post at face value and try to answer some of your questions.
