The lawsuit the Brothers have filed against UMG Recordings is interesting. On the surface, it would appear there is substance to the claim of additional royalities given the technology age and consideration of income streams that frankly were not envisioned even 5 years ago, much less 30.
I would tend to agree that vintage Bands can be exploited in the iTune age. My interest would be to see how well the plantiff's attorneys can argue contracts written back when Ramblin' Man was made will gravitate to be upheld in todays technology environment.
Can be a landmark decision for vintage bands like the Allmans. Frankly, my hope is they go in and fight hard to win.
