RIP George Carlin
I never thought him to be as outright funny as say Robin Williams or did not have the timing/delivery of Don Rickles, however over the years watched him morph into a bitter old man that actually was not very funny imo.....what WAS funny imo, as so many times happens, young liberals turn into conservatives as they age. In many ways George was getting more of a conservative view as he was showing increased frustration in the direction of this Country. But he was very provocative and was, for my generation, the first to bring the hippie culture to comedy mainstream (before cheech & chong). His early works were ground breaking and I think some of his best moments were on Carson. I enjoyed him more in that setting or in a movie than solo stand up performances.
