Bird, as I said, I have no dog in this hunt, AND, I made it very clear I respect your passion and contributions. And I also know you and others here are overly sensitive about Hep C. I take issue with pointing out a concern I have, based upon your own words. Your inference to "rare" is the point here. Obviously, you dont understand my point. Let me help you here: As a nurse, I dont tell patients that disease transmission is "rare", in particular kids. I dont educate patients that lung cancer from smoking is "rare". I state the facts. If you smoke you are AT RISK for cancer. If you share needles, you are AT RISK for Hep C. If you have HIV, you are AT RISK for Hep C. Get the point?? "Rare" to some equals OK, and I have a huge issue with that. I think I understand your agenda; to offer support to those infected, and offer awareness. Good, then take it to the next level and speak to all risk factors AS EQUAL. One risk is no more or less dangerous as the other. As a clinician, I would appreciate your support of this perspective, and get away from opinions that actually can do more harn to the truly uninformed than saying nothing. If that hurts your feelings I am sorry. I am not attacking your passion or the good you do here. People listen to you more than they do me, so get it right. Any nurse or MD would agree with me on this because its clinical 101...we dont tell patients any behavior is more or less risky....all risks are bad and put the uninfected in danger. I hope you and the others here can take this in the spirit it is delivered. If not, then so be it. That is in part why I dont post here too much anymore. Its too much work and everyone wears their feelings on their shoulder. Keep up the good work bird and all the best.
