Brent...you're right, it was a big night here in San Fran, HUGE!!! George Porter started things off with some serious bombs on Bad Little Doggie and Rocking Horse. The new tune Time to Confess was everything I thought it would be live, what a great song. That tune, Slow Happy Boys and What is Hip? are the three best songs on Vol II as far as my ears are concerned. So I was very happy hear it last night. The Dove's Cry> Beautifully Broken had everyone from Phil & Friends on stage minus Phil, but you just knew he was gonna show up! And what an entrance! He came running out from backstage looking more excited than the packed house who were screaming at his arrival! Their little set of four tunes was right on. Very tight and precise compared to the sometimes endless noodling they'll do at their own gigs. Does it get any better than a mini Phil set with a star studded Mule bookend! WOW! I could go home from my trip now and be a happy man! I have a little bit in common with the Philzone reviewer concerning the second set. For some reason my notes were a little less in content and a lot less legible! One thing I can make out are the five exclamations after Spanish Moon! Mule just nails that tune everytime and last night was no different. I have a question at this point, who is and where did the Rzab bass player come from? Man does this kid play a thundering, hard, LOUD bass. I was very impressed. Something happened during If 6 was 9 that I thought was very interesting...Jimmy was on stage for this tune, which was HUGE!!!During a pretty serious jam when Jimmy was getting ready to take a solo, Rzab starting hammer out some bass lines getting real, real loud. He was moving closer to Warren and just getting down when Warren kind of turned his back to him and played. I took it as Warren's way of telling him to back it down a little, it's Jimmy's turn, but then again I could've been a little :smokinsmiley:! At any rate, a damn fine show. Who am I kidding, it was an amazing show and every bit worth the trip out here. Gonna hang in the city today and then head to the woods for a couple days, can't wait! All you lower leftcoasters have a blast tonight and tomorrow! We were very close to ditching the camping plans and headin south! Tell Warren I said hello Brent, that is if you can muster any words this time! And Jeanne, you DO want to hear the Dove's Cry>Beautifully Broken! Let me know when you get a copy! Peace from the left coast! Josh
