Butch, Thank you much for your response. I apologize for making assumptions. Bad move. On the Hep C and what I meant... The key points of confusion mentioned: Viral response (undetectable) is a key indicator. A response within the first 4-8 weeks is an indicator of success. Docs will continue to monitor viral level every, say, three months during TX. It is unusual to go undetectable early and then test positive while on meds. So typically one (IF clear early on) is then clear all of TX. The big hurdle (if undie during TX), is the three month post TX test. It is HUGE. Almost ALL relapses occur during this time. What was said back when that worried me, was not so much Gregg being misinformed (I'm sure he is not) but some of the instant fan reaction where people took the comments as Gregg is cured. Cured, or as some say "sustained response" is something doctors start indicating a year, two years, or more post TX. If you are clear 1 year post TX, you are in a 98-99% success category. My doc said I coud "start" getting cocky when clear a year. The second confusing thing was the "reducing dosage" comment, Really that area is none of my business. It is between Gregg and his doctor. My only comment is that to anyone who has done TX, that is a never heard TX approach. Because of the relapse nature of things, the typical is full dose to the bitter end. Beyond saying that, I will leave it at that, as it is a private thing. Butch, sorry on my, ummm, passion about awareness..... One if fifty in USA have this thing, 4 million Americans, 1 in 10 it will be fatal. 9 in 10 live or suffer with it. It is a part of the music biz as much as anythin, maybe more. Butch, thank you again very much for the band and your concern of this huge issue and God be with Gregg in his success 🙂 Also, back to the TX: It is successful in clearing, curing the virus in approximately 50% of people who do the 24 or 48 week regime. It took me two tries, I had the high viral level problem the Wickepedia article you posted mentioned. Two years post TX and fine, and tell Gregg that is a fine feeling to look forward to. Also that he will feel better as time progresses. Hep C has an effect on clarity, energy level and overall welll being. He will be surprised in the changes over the next year or two as good health starts setting back in 🙂
