REMEDIAL READING 101 Without Red Dog's having provided shelter and support for The Allman Brothers right here in Macon, Georgia during their early days as a struggling group of hungry musicians, there would be no such band as we know it. That is a factual no brainer for critics, friends. or foes. Red Dog is my friend and neighbor in Middle Georgia. While not claiming to be a saint by any means, he deserves continuing respect for his founding contributions to The Allman Brothers Band, music culture and history in general. At least movie producer Cameron Crowe was inspired enough to base a major motion picture on the persona of Red Dog Campbell in "ALMOST FAMOUS." And for those who need to apply for history lessons or driving instructions, Dog remains a legendary American Hero, decorated ex-Marine, and one helluva' good golf coach.
