I had a real nice night at Bhojanic Indian Restaurant tonight -- I went to get some of their award-winning food, but was only there a few minutes when Colonel Bruce showed up and sat with me the rest of the night. Turns out this Monday was scheduled for a show by Genetic Drift, Duane Trucks's band. The music started at 10:00 and kept me entranced. This is a jazz trio that is second to none -- and that's saying something! Duane told me that his parents went backstage to meet Carlos Santana at one of the Atlanta shows at Chastain Park. He said Carlos told them that first there was John Coltrane, then Miles Davis, and now Derek Trucks. High praise, indeed! At the Chastain show, Santana introduced Derek to the audience as the "anointed one." Guess he has some fairly strong opinions ...
