Gotta chime in on the Steve Earle mention. He is one of my favorite performers and as was mentioned, an excellent songwriter. In concert, I've seen him vary from pretty good to knock-your-socks-off-fantastic. He does usually throw in some political commentary, but nothing to impede a show. And he normally does it with a bit of humor. He performs like he really enjoys doing so, which makes his concerts more enjoyable. As for the tempo of his show, that's a tough call. Sometimes he really rocks, and other times the shows are a bit slower. Kind of depends on what his latest CD is like. He just released "Jerusalem" a few weeks ago, so I would suggest maybe you go pick that up. He usually plays a lot of new stuff. One of the greatest live recordings in my opinion is one Steve released about 10 years ago called "Shut Up And Die Like An Aviator". No clue what the title means but this thing will have you dancing all over your living room. It's that good. Finally, if anyone wants to hear a funny little off-color story about me, my buddie and Steve Earle at an ABB show a few years ago, send me an email or a PM.
