I'm sorry to hear of Waylon's passing. Saw him in 1977 with his beautiful wife Jessi. Waylon was my #1 hero in the late 70's, when I had given up on rock and roll mostly. My favorite old Waylon song, before he was an outlaw with a beard, was Cedartown Georgia. Waylon was a mans man and the true spirit of freedom. Sorry this is a day of negativity on here and Dickeys site. I don't even comprehend it, but wonder if the waters are deeper than they first look. Lana, Rowland, I know my opinion is worth exactly nothing (not to you just in general), but here it is: I don't think the different sites is the problem. It is the GB and Forum on the "Umbrella" site. Personally I'd ditch them and force people to direct to the individual sites. Who has big input on a generic "Hittin' the Web" topic anyway? It's always about something more specific (usually). You could have a little forum there if needed for user type info questions, but why need more than that? And the umbrella site adds to the lack of individual site feel. Nobody looks at URL's. It makes it seem like one big site with multiple paths and GB's within, URL's or not. You and Rowland are looking from a webmaster / administrator viewpoint, while everyone else has a User viewpoint. And also you good folk are looking at it from a Portal viewpoint, which indeed is the latest web thing. Communities (towns and cities) have portal sites. It gives the power of numbers to individual sites that they would not have otherwise. The other thing is we are dealing with a fractured family that used to be one, and to a lot of people, wether they play music togethor or not, they are still our big family. We refuse to put up the barriers that exist between the musicians themselves. They may not get along any more, but we don't have to make it ugly in our minds too, and things are seperate enough in reality, without us adding chasms in our thoughts.
