Hey now, as a veteran of many, many ABB shows I too have been saddened some from what has transpired over the years as well as elated many times more. When I have discussed this with my close friends and partner in life I find that the only answer I can give is “It’s all about the music” To put in some perspective I remember longing to hear Mountain Jam just once in its entirety just once that’s all once. Years and years go by but it was not going to happen because Duane was no longer with us and was told that it would most likely never happen. I understood this because it would never be the same without Duane. Then one day along comes Derek and Jimmy and I am front row…wow…they had no clue that this was the “Holy Grail” they just decided that it needed to be played. Oh and play it they did, what a beautiful sound to these old ears. The music again flowed through me like strawberry wine as it washed over the sadness and the past. When I asked Jimmy how could you open with Mountain Jam he said Derek put him up to it…:) And I said thank you. And I say it’s all about the music. Now more Wanee wish list: Kind of Bird Win Lose or Draw Never the Less Oh yeah and MOUNTAIN JAM/BLUE SKY And for you Luke: Loan me a Dime for Dickey and Boz Scaggs
