Spent saturday nite with Albert Simpson and Highly Kind Band. The Skydogs had finished up a show for the Sloperfest Climbers early so I mosied on over to catch Albert...with his new drummer, Duane Trucks! Well, Albert in his always ever-so-humble manner, says....'bring your guitar and come jam. Lefty is in town..we will have a hellofatime! How could I resist!! So, me and my Mona Mae LP made the journey where we met up with Buppalo at the Blackstone Pub in Gadsden. Some of you may remember the JFD last year and the show the Skydogs played friday nite...soo, the place is pretty packed as usual as Albert is the best
music around these days in Gadsden.
Note here..his band is just the best players, they groove, they jam, they paly their asses off! Ok, so with Duane behind the kit, the band took off playing songs from their upcoming CD featuring 3 of Randall Bramlett's songs. ow, ya gotta hear this music!
(hint!-JFD '08!)..ok, so the band breaks and me and Lefty come on up.
Well, Albert kicks off with Melissa and proceeds to just bring the house down with songs from the Band, Randall, ABB, and more. Long about
the end of the set, the band kicked into a burning Liz Reed...I turned around and the smile on Duane's face said it all! What a great nite...the spirit of 'ol Duane was in the house for sure, we all felt it. I figured the crowd did too as they applauded every song...what a nite.:) Thanks to
Albert and Highly Kind for the invite.
Great to meet Duane and talk music.
Man, I'm still buzzed over how good it all sounded....
