I just got back from a night of judging bands for a spot in the Atlanta Jazz Festival and am really pleased to announce that Duane Trucks' new band, Genetic Drift, won! They played a steller set...I felt it was riveting! All those hours of practice showed. The band was hungry, excited and passionate and grabbed the whole room from the first note and took us for quite a ride. This band is the real deal - I hope somebody was taping??? Can anyone guess where the name of the band came from? Bonobos Convergence dropped down from a trio to a duo with Vaylor out of town and became the Convergence Duo. The were also very entertaining and did themselves proud. Damn - we are so lucky in the ATL to have this kind of quality in our lives! JNB
