Very cool, John. 🙂 I like to play instrumental dTb, "Push Push", and "Kind of Blue" for background music when my sixth-graders are working in small groups or on some individual work.
Tuesday they recite a Longston Hughes poem. Their choice: one poem out of seven I give them. Aside from the message behind many of Hughes' poems, I love the musical, jazz-like quality to his words.
And, speaking of the kids and music, one "benefit" (?) of games like Guitar Hero and the like is that many of my kids this year talk about or hum classic rock tunes all the time.
I hope that my buddy Alan and I can play for the kids on the next-to-last day of school like last year. Many students have asked about it all year. 😀
