This was the first time the band played at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which is by most accounts, the best festival in the country. This might have been the first time many in the crowd saw the ABB, and with festive and colorfull signs, costumes and sun umbrellas this crowd rocked heavilly with the band and were treated to a great concert. The promoter as well, was so enthralled with the music that he let the band play for an extra 45 minutes after the fest was to have closed for the day. In addition the promoter signed the band to play and close the fest, the following year. Somewhere I have a picture of Kirk West sitting about 20 feet up on top of the speaker coloumn just groovin to the music.
