I was at the show. I was in the Army stationed at Edgewood Arsenal ,Md. I went with my Army buddy and his girlfriend and they got me a date. Show was awesome. Crowd was electric. First song was Statesboro Blues and last song ( encore) was Whippin Post. Crowd would not leave and kept screaming and clapping for more. 10-15 min later Jaimoe, Butch came out and started jammin on drums. Berry came back out shortly and joined in the jam with bass. they jammed for about 10 min and Greg came out and sang a song or two. Betts and Duane never came back out. So his last song to play was Whippin Post as the news of the accident was I think just a few days later.
It was the last venue Duane Allman performed at with the ABB. Click the “Owings Mills, MD” in yellow above and it will take you to the info for that date.
I did not attend this show, however, it must be noted that Painter’s Mill did not exist to much longer for it burned down to the ground. A stage that was front and center for everyone for it rotated in a circular motion. In our MD area this was the first big concert of the year.
I’ve heard rumors that this was one of the last venues that Duane played. Not sure?
