Guess where I was 32 years ago tonight? In Central Park, listening to the Allman Brothers Band.
I went to see the late show with my sister and her boyfriend. As soon as we entered the park at 59th and 5th Avenue, we could hear the ABB playing “Liz Reed.” We listened to the rest of the first show while standing in line to get into the late show. Actually, I walked around the pathways going behind the stage and had a great view of the band coming off and waiting to go back for the encore. The crowd was crazy, it was an incredibly beautiful night, and I was close enough to see how much fun the band was having, smiling, messing around until they went back out for the encore.
I’ve never heard the tapes or CDs of the shows, but it was one of the best New York nights I’ve ever had.
Cowboy opened this show.
