I made it!
That was some scary stuff! I guess we missed a catastrophic hit when the storm moved just a few feet away from the coastline. Thank God!! I ain't lying, I was scared!! We literally watched trees falls to the ground. I'm back to work and happy it's all behind me. Some are still without power (we finally got ours back last night) and the destruction is county-wide: trees down, power lines down, signs ripped off, etc. But my home had no damage and I feel blessed. Thank you for caring.

Hang in there, Garry. We've all been through this. It will get better eventually.

Been there ... done that ... extremely worrying at the time because you know there is no going back and they don't seem to get it nor care about it ...
But although there is no going back ... there is still the possibility of redemption further down the line ...
My elder son Dale (who you met in NYC in 2011) did the same thing ... dropping out of our equivalent of High School at 17 ... we were distraught at the time as he was very well capable of a University education ... but hanging out with friends who had already dropped out of school at 16 / smoking / drinking etc etc was more enticing than the possibility of a better future which at that time was intangible to him ...
Fortunately he landed on his feet by getting a job that provided a way forward via professional courses ... and although it took him a couple of more years to come round ... eventually he was surrounded by new friends from his work place and realised the error of his ways ... he subsequently knuckled down at work and now at 32 is the head of his department in an engineering consultants with university graduate engineers working for him ...
So ... although it is difficult ... you have to somehow accept where you son is and endeavour to balance support and encouragement levels to help him through it ... it is not easy and is a very worrying time ... the natural reaction is one of confrontation ... but that did not work for me when I initially took that route ... all you can do is stick with him ... you can't make him do anything anymore ... but with understanding and encouragement you will hopefully have a positive effect on his future ...
Good luck mate!
Trust me, Garry, they get better with age.
Just back from an excellent Wishbone Ash gig at a local theatre ... great set rounded of with a sparkling rendition of "Phoenix" for an encore ... had forgotten how good this stuff is !!!
Heading to Boston area for the weekend in the morning.
Y'all behave, I'll do the singalong Sunday morning.

Not easy Garry, My oldest daughter did all she could to make me miserable, and succedded. She has landed on her feet and is a very successful professional. My oldest son was more on the starlight and narrow. My two youngest from my second marriage are both on track but we make sure they are involved and busy in school, but no guarantees.
Stay on message with him and try and steer him, hopefully it will all sink in and he will get back on track.
g'day loungers
I really appreciate the wise words of advice. I have read and re-read and taking it all on board. thanks loungers 😉
