Finished the day at a celebration of the life of Barry Crimmins.

His sister was a classmate, he and I were casual friends.

His late father insisted years ago they wouldn't buy flowers from anyone but Laxton's Florist.

We closed the florist shop a year and a half ago but I was able to take a large bunch of snaps and other blooms to them for the wake from the beds we grow for farmers market bouquets.

Barry's sister and 92 year old mother were thrilled.

I just chalked it up to tradition.

They always got their flowers from us, why should it be any different now?

Good Afternoon friends, I was in the neighborhood and thought I would stop by Lounge to see how y'all were doing. Found myself reminiscing a bit over the past week about ABB show I had attended in the past (listening to the Instant Live copies of those shows will do that every time!), and thought I would stop by and post if my Username and Password would allow.

I sure hope the usual cast of characters who frequented this joint 10+ years ago are doing well. I see Colin, Stick, and Masahiko finishing the singalong (Hey fella's), just not much other chatter since. I guess the end of line for the ABB, coupled with FB have taken their toll on forums like these. I am very thankful for friends and acquaintances I made when I hungout at this joint. Going back a page or two I see that Ed is still around (Hey Ed!), as well as Peg and Ron (hey peg and ron!).

I will try and stop by a bit more often now that I have time. Being retired tends to free up your schedule. No shows on my current schedule to see, although a roadtrip (not in the Red Volvo..) to see ZZ Top might be in the future to Richmond VA.

For me, wife and kids are doing very well, and that is what is most important. Kids are graduated from college and in the working world. Hope to catch with you all one day. Until then,

see 'ya Cool

Rich!!! So good to hear from you and so jealous of another lounger in retirement. How I wish I could. Yes, I'm still here since Facebook just isn't my thing. It's not the same, of course, but I'm still hanging on. I have 2 grandbabies now and another one due next month. They fill my life with joy. Keep in touch!

Hey Peg, good to talk t you as well. How are things in Hot 'Lando?
So you have 2 grandbabies? Expanding the family is always a good thing. My kids are not at the point yet, they are still taking those first tentative steps into adulthood. Man 'o man, how the time flies. Seems like only yesterday
the site would be all abuzz in December when the dates for the Beacon shows would get announced. And getting to meet all the forum members, especially the Lounge members in NYC during the March residence, well that is something that I may never be a part of again. Really special times and memories.

Hopefully you are seeing some good live music. Seems a bit harder to find shows to my liking as I age, but live music is good the soul so I am always looking. Haven't had much of a chance to poke my head around the site to see who is here that I may recognize. Haven't seen the Boss (photodude as someone used to call him) check in recently, I hope he is doing well. How about Chuck or Greg, any sign of them around these parts? Oh well, questions best left for another time I guess.

Later Cool

Rich,
This is what the Boss said when I asked why he doesn't come around much:

I'm fine, just not really as involved here as I used to be.

I spend most of my online time on facebook, as Colin and a few others can attest to.

Don't know when the last time Chuck posted here was but we interact every day on FB in real time.

This place just doesn't hold the appeal it once did.

When I am here it's usually to browse and post in the WP.

Even got a PM from the big cheese warning me about community standards after a very general comment was flagged by a certain triggered troll.

Doesn't really make me want to spend much time here.

You'll notice I changed the Lounge title a few months back after a former trading buddy turned out to be a very vocal trumpster.

I wasn't going to continue to honor anyone with those racist clownservative views.

Hmmm, just hate that politics (or any of the hot button issues) could tear apart people who had the common goal of freely sharing and enjoying the music. Kind of sad, but that is today's world.

So I guess y'all have been caretakers in Ron's absense. Cheers to all of you.

Speaking of cheers, I finally got to see my Eagles win a Super Bowl! I'll bet that didn't make Chuck to happy. 😛
I actually got to go to the game, one of best events in my life. Still go to the game with the RVC. This will be our 35th season of going.

Are you still involved with the Mike Bloomfield site? Everytime I hear a song on my Spotify feed from Mike ( or find out Mike played on it) I think about you and your energy toward him and his musical career. I hope it is going well.

Storm getting ready to pass through here, I need to go batten down the hatches. Keep up the good fight!

Later Cool

Good to see Rich started Sunday sing along early in the morning Grin

As Peg said, most of the members there including me spend more time at Facebook but here is the origin to me.
At least I think I'd like to post Sunday sing along within the day...

Rich,
I'm still one of Michael's BIGGEST fans, however his half-brother took over his estate and took my site down. He threw something together that isn't even close to what it used to be. We connected and I was going to fight for the right to continue but I don't even have a computer now so I'll save the fight for another day. Michael's fans loved the site. His birthday was Saturday. My friend (who's writing a book on Michael due out next year) put this together for the occasion.

Ditto, Peg … you put your heart and soul into that site … I bet all the half-brother is interested in is any spin off money he can make … if he truly loved Michael he would have appreciated what you had done … what a jerk!!

Such a shame I am not down South when you are over Ed, would have been great to catch up. Next time I am due to be in London is for the Devon & Duane show on Sept 4th.

Hope you have a great time over this side of the pond my friend … I really miss catching up with y'all in NYC … happy days ...

Hey Rich!! … so good to "see" you again … although I do frequent FB and touch base with Ron, Chuck and many others on there, I still like to drop by here. It is like one of those favourite old bars that although most of the people you knew have moved on you still can't walk past the door without dropping in for a quick beer.

I am continuing to enjoy retired life - been 7 years now for me - I love living back in the county where I grew up, close to the coast and so laid back compared to the London area … I do miss the music scene though … has to be something special to get me down to London these days as it costs a couple of hundred pounds on top of the ticket price for the trip and stay over.

Like you, I really miss those NYC Beacon trips … just wish Warren / Derek / Jaimoe / Dickey and all the other ABB associates would put something together as a tribute … 50 years next year since the formation of the ABB … would be a great time for some more March Madness!!!

Good Afternoon Loungers,

Peg - Can't say anymore then has already been said before me about your work on Michael's site. I know it was a work of love and for that be tossed aside by Michael's family members, well I think that speaks volumes about those family members.

Colin - so good to hear from you as well. Yes I do miss those days of March Madness in NYC, there was so such excitement on a daily basis, and you never knew who you might run into from the site. Seven years of retired life for you, man that seems crazy long. Been almost 2 years for me, and that seems crazy long. Just now feeling like I need to go back to some kind of work, if for no other reason then to keep from going stir crazy. Lisa is still working so I have most days to myself. And you know what they say, "idle hands are the devil's workshop".

😛

I would like to do some travelling in the US now that I got the time, but with the Mrs still working, that needs to be put on hold. Oh well, could be worse, I could still be working a 9 to 5.

Later Cool

His real brother, Allen, loved my input. He always appreciated my work and never wanted the site to be about selling products. When Allen got sick, the half-brother stepped in. 🙁 I still don't know why it was necessary to change the website. Allen even called me to apologize for his brother's actions. Oh well. It's been years now. I guess I'm over it.
