Started learning some John Fahey stuff recently; first time I ever encountered open C tuning (lowest to highest string: C-G-C-G-C-E). Anybody else ever mess around with this tuning? It's kinda fun to swim around in once ya get used to it

I've sailed the open C on my lap steel a time or two.  Good open tuning for a variety of styles.

A while back I posted a clip of Bad Company playing their hit, "Can't Get Enough".  I had just read that Mick Ralphs actually played and recorded the song in the open C tuning that you describe.  He said that the song really doesn't sound right in standard - which is how I learned it a long time ago.
