The Climate Strike Change Protests

On the surface you just see a bunch of young people trying to be heard that they are concerned about climate change. But there are others behind the marches (who are hijacking the climate strike movement).
Who are you?
We are the Metro D.C. chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and members of Labor for Climate Justice.
COMMENT: How can a socialist be a Democrat? Democrats are not Socialists, except Bernie Sanders of course.

The desire is for global action. Remind anybody else of the Occupy Wall Street movement?

It started with Greta Thunberg. Here is her speech to the United Nations this past week.
The video.

She came last year also.

REMARKS: I think she is for real. I think there are those that will hijack her enthusiam and use her for their own purposes and causes. Launching an international movement is a lot for a 9 th grade girl. If she worked in Sweden and got them to do something, then it would be appropriate to show that as a model to the world. Now she is getting stardom too fast, she will be used and exploited as the name/face/voice of a movement that includes organizations that have nothing to do with climate change. I think she deserves to be heard, but she also needs to understand some of these protests particularly in DC can get violent and she could get physically hurt. Enthusiasm has to be tempered with good sense and propriety sometimes.
