He wants everyone to have health insurance.
He wrote and passed the Violence Against Women act while someone else was dreaming of grabbing them by the you know what.
He has specific plans with numbers and stats on what he will do if he wins. He has a plan to lead.

Politics and news for the most part, will be boring.

Today, candidate elect Biden spoke about the pandemic and the election results being settled. It was the most presidential announcement in the last 4 years.

I will make no comment about Joe Biden other than to iterate that he was not my choice. By the time of my state's primary election, the Democratic candidate had been picked.
Unscientific poll here: how many of y'all that had an actual choice in your state's primary voted for Joe?

I did. I wanted a moderate. Even though I like some of what Sanders and Warren were saying, I don't like all of it and I thought they had no chance of beating Trump - too far left for much of the country.
My 1st 2 choices were Klobuchar and Biden. Biden just won S Carolina so I voted for him.

What do I like about the Constitution? (Read it dozens of times, some might try it sometime) Nothing in it about the media determining who won a Presidential election. Until it is certified, nobody knows who won on who lost? If everything holds up, then congratulations to Joe Biden.

I'll give anybody 3:1 odds if you take Trump at this point on my Charity Challenge for either $100 or $1,000. I'll go with the American voters and whatever the press has reported.
I'll be back shortly to designate a charity for those who took the initial challenge - Those who thought Hillary would enter the race, and she didn't, as well as those who took Trump and he's a loser. The charity and the American people win.

It must be the new right wing talking point - I've seen numerous Facebook posts that say the exact same thing about the 'media determining who won' - even though they all were extremely careful this time until it was mathematically impossible.

I'd imagine that Trump is on the phone with his recently purchased SCOTUS judges whinin' like an infant in a 3 day chitty diaper!

right. we voted, the media reports it.
The NYT still hasn't given Biden AZ, although AP (and Fox) did 2 days ago

Every recent election has been called before actual certification. Math is math, at least for those of us who believe in such crazy notions like math and science. And yes, we do know who won. Joe Biden.

I think we are going to be ok.As an American we need to support the President no matter who it is.Change and more concern abought the covid virus is needed.Just my opinion and yes they are like ...we all know.God bless us all,we need it now!

True, nothing is official until the election is certified and the EC has voted. That said, this isn't close. The margins in all of these states are well over what could change in a recount. Remember what happened in Florida in 2000 when it took weeks of recounting to try to chip away at the 536 vote margin. Here we have multiple states involved, all with much greater margins than Florida in 2000. It's over. Even with a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court, they wouldn't dare overturn this as it would be the end of the US. No way that will happen. Trump is going to whine and if he refuses to leave it will do nothing but further stain his legacy.

Unfortunately in the process of staining his legacy he brings the country down with him by continuing to divide us with lies
There are a few adults in the room but many Trump supporters are not listening to them

After Michael Cohen's testimony and the fact he went to jail because of *tRump you think a few more people would have taken their heads out of the sand. You would also think if the town you live in thinks you're an idiot, just maybe people should have listened. People here are quick to ask if Biden is the best the dems can do when they back an idiot on parade...someone who announces daily his inability to know or tell the truth you think would turn a couple heads.
In 2016 the GOP had many qualified people but they choose the dregs of the earth and now still can't come to terms with how disgusting of a person he is. Making excuses. They could have had the same tax cuts the same supreme court nominations as well as all the other levels of judges no matter who they put in office. But again they picked the most vile disgusting person someone could come up with. A person completely unqualified and a life time criminal. And 70million still think he's the guy....sad because at some point its not about politics or policies it about basic humanity...and *tRump has none. So if you're still a supporter I would have to question your ability to see a con or have any level of ethics or morals because what you supports has none.

Back in 2016 in one of the preliminary debates - all the GOP candidates were assembled on one stage. Trump proudly pointed out to all of them that he had given all of them money at some point. This is were things started to go very badly for the GOP. Trump essentially bought and paid for all of these guys - the entire party. The Republican Party was beholden to his egotistical @ss. He basically owned the party at that point.
The GOP should start trying to distance themselves from him ASAP - back then, even. It would be in the best interest for their image if they just tied him to a rail and hauled him out to Falls Church or some other outskirts of Washington, D.C. and tarred and feathered his large a$$.
I have voted for a Republican in my life. I will never consider doing so again as long as Donald Trump has any involvement with them - period.

Good point. I didn't see those debates, but I can see him doing something like that & acting very much as though they were somehow in his debt. As an independent businessman who has switched parties 3 times in his life, Trump gave money to candidates from both parties for a variety of offices over the years. I don't know about the party, but he certainly has something on McConnell.

At this point there's lots of reporting, and much of it is pure speculation. However, I've seen reports that Trump might play a role of kingmaker. If that's so, that'll make your choice easy. Just wondering if he's in jail, how the influence will go. Remember - "lock her up". Funny thing is the only ones ever locked up or found guilty were Trump's sycophants and inner circle; no one of his "enemies" he advocated locking up.
You'd think at this point real Republicans would run as fast as they can from him, yet listen to the carefully guarded words of someone like golf caddy, Lindsey Graham or Tea Party Holdover, Kevin McCarthy. They are still on the Trump Train along with many others telling him to fight on. "Spineless" is a word that comes to mind.
The big question is who in the POT (Party Of Trump) will step us seeing as the GOP is extinct.
Goody goody - I heard rumblings that Don Jr. might run for prez in the next cycle - a fantastic idea.

Four years ago in this forum I said that the election of Trump might end up being the worst thing that ever happened to the Republican party. I correctly predicted that he wouldn't be reelected, but how much damage he has done to the Republican party is yet to be seen. Despite Trump losing and his general unpopularity, Republicans picked up seats in the house and most likely will retain control of the senate. In other words, there were plenty of people who voted against Trump but didn't want to hand over control of the government to the Democrats. Basically, we don't have to listen to the loudmouth, but government will be at gridlock for the next 2 years (and since the party that holds the presidency usually loses in the midterms, it is likely we will have 4 years of gridlock). Quite honestly, sounds like the GOP wasn't hurt as much as I predicted.

Congrats to President-elect Biden, he & VP Harris will bring a feel-good kinder gentler administration - oldest elected president, 1st female VP & hopefully all Americans will unite behind them
still maintain it was an unlevel playing field - people were obsessed 24/7 w/shitting all over Donald Trump, maliciously maligning him at every turn & handicapping his administration’s ability to be fully effective - imo Joe in large measure rode the coattails of that to his win -
wondering what the outgoing president will say in his farewell state of the union speech
he won a close one in 2016, lost a close one this time - many people don’t hate his guts -
my wager is, covid #s will stabilize, then drop & under the leadership of Joe Biden, be eradicated altogether with the media dutifully cheering him on
Enemies: “Under Trump, covid set records day by day, nonstop, for infecting & killing people while he did nothing
“It was the elimination of that scourge, Trump, that helped end the pandemic scourge - he was a super spreader, getting rid of him was half the battle” & all the rest

I don't think Trump's going to jail. He'll pardon everyone associated w/him & himself for federal crimes before he leaves office & then make deals that require zero jail time - especially during Covid. The Trump Organization, currently led by Ivana's kids, may be in some legal trouble. Trump may try to stay relevant, but IMO "Trump" is going to be the equivalent of "Clinton" in the words-that-shall-not-be-spoken category for traditional GOP politicians.
The GOP wasn't trounced for its steadfastness to Trump. The rejection was Trump's. Congress didn't suffer. Bush is the only Republican w/nothing to lose so he can call for co-operating w/Biden. The others may just wait out the next months - don't poke the bear.
Regardless of party affiliation, the white supremacists have been emboldened. They're scarier than the GOP could ever be.

“Trounced”? Isn’t that the same thing as saying it was a landslide?
this certainly wasn’t that, the outcome was in the balance until all the votes could be counted
sounds like Trump’s enemies already have a skewed view of things - intoxicated w/joy at his ouster etc & so on - I understand & no disrespect intended

At what point will Trump supporters & Trump accept responsibility for his many failures & being a one term president? Self reflection is not a strong suit for Trump & his supporters. He dug his own hole from day 1 when his lies began & never ended. And they still haven't ended in loss. Yet his cult still cling to his every word and divert blame. But by all means go ahead and blame everyone except where the responsibility and cause lies.

That's why I said "wondering". It's a nice thought though doubtful. Maybe it would sober him up.
It will be interesting from here forward to see what types of legal problems and actions we'll see moving forward with citizen Trump.

@stephen I think Trump might have might a tactical error when he alienated the press early on. "Fake news". Yeah, that was going to earn him some favors with the fifth estate. I believe it was Mark Twain who once said, "I never make enemies with someone who buys ink by the barrel."

The GOP WAS NOT TROUNCED means the party wasn't hurt. I don't know how else to interpret that other than to say the GOP is in a good place. I'm AGREEING w/the fact that the party is no worse off.
I don't know who you consider Trump's enemies. My guess is he's his own worst enemy.

Trump is not a man who will "sober up" if you mean see he's anything but perfect.
I don't think anything interesting will happen legally. Trump will pardon himself for federal crimes. As far as The Trump Organization goes, it's on the kids. The sexual assault crimes will most likely settle privately; I don't see DAs in whatever states he's accused spending a lot of time on that. EJ Carroll's defamation suit isn't getting much traction - but a la Lewinsky, she did save The Dress on which he may or may not have ejaculated.

Yes they’ll continue pissing on him in retirement - it’s good for rating$
Imo the litmus test will be the inauguration speech - will it have to be rescheduled pending the outcome of litigation filed by the GOP contesting the outcome in certain key states, b4 the election is officially declared ‘final’
....haven’t paid too close attention to this - mayb it’s a worthwhile shot, who knows - personally would rather see him concede it, people have had enough - he’ll have another 2 months & the state of the union speech to address all this stuff on the way out
Again, I respect Donald Trump, he faced a sea of hate without flinching - he wasn’t a politician & wouldnt kow tow to anyone - he made that clear prior to running in 2016
