Deerfield Village, Illinois city council has unanimously approved a ban on the sale, possession, and manufacture of
"assault weapons" and large scale magazines in the village.

The press release doesn't show that the ordinance imposes a $1,000.00 fine PER DAY on anyone who owns any of the firearms or magazines listed in the ordinance until the item is either turned in (no compensation is mentioned), or it is removed from the city limits.
I know of it - northwest suburb of Chicago about 25 miles from Chicago. Never been there. They basically copied one from Highland Park, which had their ban upheld. The fine is a minimum of $250, up to $1000 per day.
Anyone there can still own a gun - from your link - "The ordinance goes into effect June 13, 2018, and does not otherwise regulate or prohibit rifles, shot guns, pistols or ammunition."

Funny, one guy complained that he moved from Highland Park to Deerfield so he could keep his precious guns.... 
We'll see if it stands - there is already a legal challenge against it.
