Trump greets 3 Americans released by North Korea as they land outside Washington
President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and Vice President Mike Pence were among the officials who greeted three former American hostages when they landed at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington early Thursday morning. North Korea had released the Americans — Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak Song, and Tony Kim — to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday, and Pompeo had flown them back on the U.S. government plane. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un released the Americans before a summit with Trump tentatively scheduled to take place in Singapore in June.

And?

Where Obama consistently failed President Trump gets the job done.
Obama left the American hostages to die in North Korea and President Trump brought them home.

That's not true. Of the three, only 1 was there during President Obama's administration and he wasn't left there to die either.

Congrats to all families, friends, and loved ones of those involved. Savor your freedoms.

Obama's indifference lead to Otto Warmbeirs death.

No. It was Otto Warmbeirs's choice to visit North Korea and break their laws. Did he deserve to die? No. However, you visit places like NK at your own risk.

Seriously? You realize that 1 of the hostages just released was in captivity under Trump for the same amount of time that Warmbiers was in captivity under Obama. So if you think Obama took to long, than you must think Trump took too long as well.

Never let it be said that I won't congratulate Trump when he has a success at something. It doesn't happen very often, so good job Mr. President. I think this is the 3rd time you did something right during your presidency. Too bad you've screwed up about 500 other things, but good job this time.

Again. Not "hostages" that is pure spin. Prisoners. One of these guys pleaded guilty to gathering classified military intel. He knew the risks.

Everyone's all fired up over three Americans in a foreign jail, three out of thousands of US citizens rotting in prisons worldwide.

Propaganda ploy - the only reason these guys are getting any attention is because NK is hot politics.

Not buying this for a minute. Glad they got out. Still, these things should be handled by the State Dept, not the president sucking up and begging special favors when US citizens f up overseas. Makes the US look weak. And makes scumbags like Kim Jong Un look almost human, when they are not. Nothing comes free, what do we owe NK now?

If we caught a North Korean spy you would be screaming for their blood.

"Hostages" what a joke. Dumbsh*ts or spies or guys trying to smuggle out their relatives. Fine, but not the president's job.

Jimmy Carter found out what the term "hostage" really means.

The lefties here are playing word games to run away from the fact that President Trump secured the release of the Americans.

Carter's botched rescue aside, those people were actual hostages. Innocent people seized for political reasons. The folks on the El Al plane at Entebbe were hostages. A guy doing time in Singapore for spitting on the sidewalk is a prisoner. Big difference.

This is a good thing. No need to slam former Presidents or negatively spin the current circumstances. Atleast stratdal and 2112 have some proper perspective.

Turnabout is fair play. Time for the US to release the 55,000 foreign nationals held "hostage" in US prisons. It would mean a lot to them and their loved ones. Oh, my mistake, they aren't hostages, they are prisoners that broke our laws. Never mind. Let them do the time we deem appropriate by our law.

https://www.usimmigration.com/foreign-national-prison.html

ZERO "hostage rescue" credit to Trump. Not a hostage situation at all. He licked North Korea butt to get a few prisoners out same as when he licked China butt to get the basketball prisoners out. Why isn't he licking Thai butt to get Joe Blow out?

President Trump secured the release of three American hostages and the lefties just can't stand it.

Ha ha.

Yet another major accomplishment by President Trump.

I would celebrate any "hostage rescue" as such, and a heroic achievement by any president, regardless of party.

You seem confident that these folks were being held hostage, and had not simply run afoul of the law in a repressive country.

I will be happy to concede my argument if you can clarify why these folks were "hostages".

One of the detainees admitted to spying. Would you consider a North Korean spy in a US prison a "hostage"?

It's the "hostage" spin that I am not buying.

Thanks for the detailed clarification. How are these detainees any more important than Joe Backpacker picked up for a joint and forgotten for years in a jail in Laos? Is this guy a "hostage"?

Are US citizens imprisoned in hostile political hot spot countries "hostages", and US citizens imprisoned in no-count countries just "prisoners"?

Point being, if it is indeed a hostage situation, then the US president should step in and put the international spotlight on it. If it is US citizens stuck in foreign jail for perceived criminality then it is a job for the State Dept. Our president can't intervene every time an American does something stupid and ends up behind bars overseas.

President Trump accomplished a major diplomatic and human rights win.

Nothing else matters.

Isn't it nice to see the lefties expressing their joy over 3 imprisoned Americans in North Korea being released because of President Trump's leadership.

Uh oh. From the fake and failing BBC:

North Korea has cancelled high-level talks with South Korea because of anger over military exercises, state media reports.
The North's official KCNA news agency said the exercises between the US and the South were a "provocation".
It also warned the US over the fate of the historic summit between Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump that is scheduled for 12 June.
In March, Mr Trump stunned the world by accepting an invitation to meet Mr Kim.
"We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!" the US leader tweeted at the time.

I see the standard tactics used by North Korea for decades is outside of your ability to understand.

Your complete lack of remembering history is displayed again.

BTW - the U.S./S.K. military exercises are an annual event.

Why assume that?

Your complete lack of remembering history is displayed again.

When have I ever discussed history? You must be confusing me with someone else.

I know, which means Kim Jong is a deranged lunatic. Maybe there are better things to be doing than entertaining a leader who sees an annual event as a hostile act towards him, ya think?

As we all know, NK is the last real cult of personality on Earth. Just like his father, all Kim desires is for NK to be taken seriously on the world stage as a nuclear and military power. The closest he can get to that, the tighter he can keep an iron grip on his people.

A summit with any POTUS will finally give the Kim family the recognition they have craved for decades.
