Minnesota didn't win, and Chicago didn't win. Green Bay almost did.

Pretty sure the Packers did. Fun to have such a competitive division again.

yep, coming off their rest week Da Bears can pull into a tie w/MN - but wtf, in DC at the WFT - who’re suddenly commanding the gridiron like renegade Redskins (5-2)

At Northwest Stadium - not too generic or anything

mayb Pats will pull into tie w/Jets🥱

Kind of a dull NFL weekend. More so for college actually. I did like the NFC North games for the most part. Too bad Minnesota didn't lose but the Packers and Bears losses I liked. I would have some concerns for both of those teams were I a fan. I don't think Green Bay should have played Love. They have a bye next week so why not give him two weeks off to recover? Especially given the playing conditions.

The Bears. Their coach just has to go. They are going to be in the same position next year as thave have been in the last few years. Eberflus is going to be gone. Another regime change likely.

Philly needs a new coach too. It was like he was trying to lose the game yesterday with some of his calls.

And my Lions need to trade for a defensive lineman before the deadline tomorrow! Smile

Other than Lovie Smith, hasn't this been the case with every Bears coach for the past 30 years? They need new owners. Look at what a change in culture did for Washington.

I have no problem with the Packers playing Love, he seemed ok and it was a good pressure test against a good team in bad weather. Lions pressure and the weather definitely got to him and his center for the day, pretty sloppy play. Detroit is just the better team right now. At least the Packers held Detroit to under 25 points for only the 3rd time this season.

I agree about the Bears owners. The same thing I have been saying with the Lions for seemingly forever. Both have a family ownership structure with people that don't necessarily know football. Washington has of course had a terrible owner. Dallas has terrible ownership but for a different reason. You could probably throw the Raiders into the conversation of bad owners too.

What are your thoughts on how the NFC North will shake out? I know there is still half of a season to go.

@lee Family ownership is fine so long as they stay in their lane. Steelers and Chiefs are a good examples. The Jets are not a great example, Woody Johnson should probably say out of the locker room. What a mess.

The Lions have mostly righted the ship ever since they fired Matt Millen. Can't imagine anyone else winning the North this season. I pay less attention to the NFL every year that passes, really just been watching a few Packers games. But with more games you have more chance for things to change by December, but I can see MN, DT, and GB all make the playoffs.

The Lions were a mess even before Matt Millen. Remember Wayne Fontes? I agree, three teams from the division will get in. I don't see the Bears making it. As you said, there's a long way to go and they all have to beat up on each other. Kind of like many of the college games.

You should get in the NFL pool next year. It would be fun. We Would have fans of three teams in the same division. Sang has some misguided opinion of the Bears. Laugh

Fontes took the Lions to the 1991 NFC Championship game. NFC Central sent 4 teams to the playoffs in 1994, including the Lions. They had some decent years in the 1990s until Barry Sanders got bored with football and Millen took over as GM.

I forget if Erik Kramer took the Bears or the Lions to the playoffs in '94, but if you haven't heard his post-NFL story it's a tough one.

@porkchopbob

Yeah that is a very sad story.

Fontes was still kind of a laughingstock.

He went around the training camp in a golf cart.

Fontes was a colorful character, but was well respected and won a couple of division titles with Barry. The Lions didn't really become a punch line until after Barry retired in '99 and Millen took over in 2001 and hired Morningwheg. They even went to the playoffs a couple years under Bobby Ross in the late 90s.

Don't look now but I finally won a week. I am on a winning streak and I am tied for first after one game. It's time I make my mid-season push! Wink

Not much on the NFL schedule intrigues me today. I actually think the Vikings/Bears game could be interesting though. I think San Fran is in trouble without Purdy. The Arizona/Seattle could be good.

Hey coot*. Your team is bowl-eligible. Are they going to the Battle Creek, MI Corn Flakes Bowl? Laugh Of course, there are 12 Big Ten teams going to bowls at this point.

It won't happen, but how funny would it be if the Jets signed Daniel Jones?

And trade for Zach Wilson to be the backup. Hello, put Aaron Rodgers on the practice squad.

Actually, I heard the Lions were asked about Jones. If they lose Goff, they are toast.

Bears almost come back on the Lions until Caleb reminds you he is a rookie - how do you burn :32s on one play? Sure, the coach could have called a time out to bail him out, but he took 15s to reset and another 10s before he snapped the ball.

And Eberfluss is out. Not surprised, if you have a rookie QB you can’t just leave him out there twisting in the wind. I don’t get how he even defended his clock management, everyone watching could see the offense was off the rails trying to reset.

At 5-6, it looks like my 49ers are toast this year.  If they won 5 of their remaining 6 they'd be 10-7 and maybe slide into a Wild Card.  But the chances of that happening look mighty slim, especially with Buffalo up tomorrow.  Injuries have REALLY hurt them, but at this point, injuries have hurt most teams.  Overall it's hard to blame anyone considering that they've been in the NFC Title game 4 out of the last 5 years and the Super Bowl two of those years (DAMN you, KC).  I will say this, though:  Christian McCaffrey has been back for two weeks now, they have lost both of those games, and he hasn't really done a whole lot.  Here's what I don't understand:  Jordan Mason filled in when McCaffrey was out and he basically tore up the league, he was the second leading rusher in the NFL after 6 or 7 games.  Not only that, RB Isaac Guerendo was also really tearing it up when they used him.  So McCaffrey is out all year, and when he comes back, you use him almost exclusively?  What are you trying to do, justify his huge salary?  I don't get that at ALL, and that all comes back to Coach Kyle Shanahan.  And doesn't it make sense to work McCaffrey back more slowly, rather than risk further injury?

@robslob how's it feel to be right about pretty much everything? Tough game for SF fans, but I'm kind of pulling for the Bills to take the AFC this year. Final score aside, it was fun to see something close to a white out game.

Meanwhile Dan Campbell is going to have to completely change some play calls thanks to one of his player posting the white board full of them to social media. Oops. Unless it's a very elaborate trick...

Also, do the Jets even continue to start Aaron Rodgers? What a mess, ugly loss. I look forward to not hearing about the Jets at all next season.

@porkchopbob:  Now that the 49ers are basically out of contention, I'd love to see Buffalo go all the way.  I've always thought that Josh Allen was close to Patrick Mahomes as the league's best QB, and he's proving it more than ever this year.  It would be nice to see him get over the hump and win it all.

I think it was on Twitter so it has to be legit. The internet would never lie. Wink

Actually, I am all over the Packers but not for that. I hadn't seen it. Given the Lions' injury issues, take the Pack and 3.5. You are welcome for the tip. Unless Love makes a stupid mistake as he is prone to do.

Given the schedule the Lions have in front of them, I am not too optimistic that they will win the NFC. Especially the way Philly is playing and their easy schedule. Heck, Detroit still has GB, Minnesota, and Buffalo (all at home). And going to Chicago isn't a gimme.

@lee you sounds like all of the Lions fans I've heard from, prepping themselves for disappointment. Not saying you're wrong, but enjoy the ride. But I hear you, never want to peak too early.

And going to Chicago isn't a gimme.

Well now you just sound silly.

Yes, we are a jaded bunch. Hey, 60 years of futility will do that to you.

Regarding Chicago, they always play Detroit tough. The Bears won once last year and they almost won Thursday.

I'm telling ya', I will be surprised if Detroit wins by four tonight. And I will be more than happy to be wrong!

What a game last night! The pundits are all saying how great it was for the Lions to go for it on fourth down. Yeah, because it worked out. I thought it was the dumbest thing you could have done. They were already in field goal range with a very good kicker. Why risk it?

But did anyone take my sage advice and bet on Green Bay? Smile

I see coot didn't but Sang did.

In the for fun pool the number was 3 1/2, with my sports accountant it was -3 so I bought half a point. Got a W where it was risking something. Cool

Couldn't agree more on how stupid two of those going for it on 4th down were. The last one when as you said they were well in FG range and the one on their own 29. You don't have faith in your defense that making the field goal with 40 seconds left (and no GB timeouts left) gets you the win? The two where they went for it inside the 5 of GB made perfect sense, if you don't convert the Packers have to go 95+ yards. Failing from your own 29 gave GB a touchdown they shouldn't have gotten. Decisions like those two (already in FG range & from your 29) could torpedo their whole season at some point. Those were just stupid.
