Not ridiculing, just kidding around. Let it go. You clearly are grinding some axe that has nothing to do with any of this.

To put a lid on it, I was honestly relieved to see the character go, the way he tore folks up and insulted, and the language he used. So I posted that. Sorry if it offended you, really.

Actually was pleasantly surprised to see this thread turn into a civil discussion of the ups and downs of the WP.

Who could forget the fence fiasco, or the shrooms hoax? Those were the days.

No good deed goes unpunished.

muledouche is back, posted 5/27.

When was the last time Deano posted? I bet you know the exact date.

I have no idea.

It was easy to see muledouche's name in the forum and the previous day's date.

Again I'll ask you, on a totally unrelated subject, what do you do in agriculture?

My take on the WP...

Polarization best describes my observation. I have conservative, libertarian, liberal and even a few socialist beliefs all across the board that range from mild to moderate to extreme. I don't get people who are so strict to adhere to just one way of thinking. Society functions best when the people (community) come together with the individuals distinct and unique perspective becoming a conglomerate of ideas and solutions. That is what made our country great. Compromise used to have a different definition in the political arena, today is appears to be either a gift or a curse and not finding a common ground. It is really a sad thing to witness.

The operative word in your point is "thinking". Seems to me that people who surrender their own thought process to a prefab party line are indeed not "thinking" at all.

While he who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape by society's pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But would rather drag you down
In the hole that he's in

Bob Dylan - It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

No doubt, that polarization is terrible, and leads to bad things.

...Hey, ok, I want to hear about the fence fiasco and shrooms hoax. Tell us about the days of yore.

Just do a topic search for "fence fund" and search for posts by "shrooms". I think there might have been several auxiliary threads related to the fence fund. Lasted a year or so, complete with Candace Oakley sub plot.

Ah so, grasshopper, on the surface that would appear thus... however, is not the function of the umbrella to keep the rain out?

Again I'll ask you, on a totally unrelated subject, what do you do in agriculture?

Saw it the first time, ignored it. Don't bother asking again.

Why not??

Purely curious.

Are you an organic mushroom farmer or a corporate lawyer for monsanto?

Being "in agriculture" could be anything from a tractor salesman to an apple picker.

My family runs a CSA, non certified organic but pesticide free produce.

We also grow and sell flowers.

So what's the harm in telling us which end of the spectrum you're on??

Tell you guys what, if gondicar shares with us his place of employment and removes that judgmental holier-than-thou signature line of his, I'll share whatever personal info you want.

Fair is fair!

I've already shared where I work, more than once in fact. Of course Ron wasn't asking specifically for your place of employment so not sure why it matters (and personally I couldn't care less what you do or where you work).

My sig line isn't going anywhere...it is taken from a national campaign that is just as relevant and needed today as it ever has been. The fact that you, one the most "holier-than-thou" actors here, would describe it as "holier-than-thou" is not only ironic it also says a lot to me about the type of person you are.

Very cool. This is close to home, it is home, for me, you and others here. My ten year old autistic kid pulled a runner yesterday, every police unit in town dispatched, found a mile from home, near the highway. Has zero clue about cars, had crossed two fast-moving busy streets. It was a gripper, but looks like he was under the aegis of the Almighty. How to have your hair go gray in twenty minutes! It was pure surreal shock for a while there.

Wow, I can only imagine how scary that was. My son is 15 and has global cognitive development delay (non-verbal, not potty trained, needs help dressing, feeding, etc) and doesn't understand danger and would wander into traffic in a second without knowing any better, so while I worry about a lot of things he generally doesn't and wouldn't do the runner thing. Glad he's ok and hope you didn't go totally gray.

Yes, it does. The fact that you and so many others don't understand that means there is still a lot of work to do for the Spread the Word campaign.

Thx man. Yeah he's ok. I got religion real quick. And you are a hero for caring for your boy. A lot of folks just ditch these guys, bag out and turn them over to foster care or leave them with mom. It's tough, but as you know, there is a lot to learn from them, who are incredible in many ways.

Here's a campaign that's been going on since the beginning of time. It's a more generalized campaign where folks are encouraged to use common sense without over-the-top PC and eliminating perfectly usable slang words from the dictionary. Check it out:

Dear Mr. Moonves,

I’ve not had the privilege of meeting you, but I am among your many admirers. I don’t know whether you’re familiar with my legal work over the past half-century, but I have long been committed to the law not just as an abstract value but as an agent of human decency and mutual respect.

It is in that context that I was shocked and profoundly saddened by the painful ridicule of developmentally and intellectually challenged individuals featured in the Showtime Network comedy special, Gary Owen: I Agree With Myself .

In my many decades of working with Presidents, Senators, Representatives, Governors, and citizens dedicated to civil rights and human rights - President Obama and Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Kagan and UN Ambassador Samantha Power have been among my students and research assistants at Harvard, and I have worked closely with Vice President Biden and the late Senator Edward Kennedy and Ambassador Sargent Shriver and his remarkable wife Eunice Shriver - I have encountered nothing more hateful or painful than this.

If racial or religious or ethnic minorities were the targets of Gary Owen’s outrageous cruelty, I cannot imagine an organization with a reputation as hard-earned as that of CBS tolerating, much less facilitating, such hate speech on its media platform. This is not a matter of “political correctness,” and I know nobody more dedicated to freedom of expression than me, but when words and images become the bullets that rip through the psychic and emotional flesh of the most vulnerable and often helpless among us, it is time for people of principle to stand up and say: “Enough!”

If Gary Owen is beyond shame, then it is the duty of people like David Nevins, President and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc., to blow the whistle. And if Mr. Nevins cannot find it in himself to stand up for what is decent and right, then, with all respect, it falls to you personally to do something about this clearly unacceptable situation before it reduces even more disadvantaged citizens to tears and worse.

I appreciate your reading this message and would be grateful for your timely response. Every day this material remains in a position to inflict unjustified pain - with no redeeming value to offset its injurious impact - is a day we should all feel ashamed of ourselves.

Thank you for hearing me out. I hope you will respond soon.

Yours respectfully,
Larry Tribe

What's your point gondicar? You're quoting my post so safe to assume you are addressing me to some degree despite promising to never do so again.

This comedian was not using "retarded" as slang at all. He was making directly fun of mentally handicapped people. Are you so consumed by self-righteousness you cannot tell the difference anymore?

You obviously have reading comprehension issues...I didn't promise to never address you again. And apparently you are so consumed by your own douchbaggery that you can't see how these things are connected. #notsurprised

Nope.

I didn't promise to never address you again

so unless you specifically attack me any more, I will be ignoring you from now on

???? what did i misunderstand here ???

Also, you still FAIL MISERABLY to realize there is a slang and non-slang usage of the word retarded. I used it as pure slang and you lose your mind, then post an article about some comedian directly making fun of retarded people. You just don't get it.

Just another circular WP chat with gondicar, around and around we go...

"unless you specifically attack me any more" <--- this is the part you either didn't read or didn't understand...it means that if you keep on coming at me, I'll respond.

It is funny to me that you keep telling me I don't get it and that I "FAIL MISERABLY"...the irony is just awesome!!

Go punch a Trump supporter, hippie.

Since the beginning of time, treating people with kindness has been a common-sense thing. Now all of a sudden we need to edit the dictionary, but not because aholes don't know the difference but it's hippies like gondiar that don't know the difference.

I guess we need a campaign for every offensive word out there to accommodate those that have trouble with the difference between right and wrong.

You have fun with your little crusade there, brah. I think it's kind of retarded but whatever.

Hippie? Me? Ha, you are a riot!!! Clueless, but a riot nonetheless.

douchbaggery...There's a word you don't hear nearly enough. And perfectly applied in this case. Well done Gondi! PerryBoynton is going out of his way to show his ass in this thread. I wonder who he's trying to impress?
