Your are right, but he enjoys it as well. That's why he provokes it. Everyone involved enjoys it. No one has been abused. That is just the way of internet forums, particularly political threads. In the end it doesn't mean a thing. It's not like we're having any impact on anything real.

I know that this was in response to gondicar, but I've never once understood why you've always made this such a crusade of yours. At its peak, the WP was about 30 people arguing about politics, now it's less than ten. Facebook is filled with millions of people that get rank and raw on each other over politics. I've seen personal friendships end over politics, I've seen family members not want to have anything to do with each other because of politics. It's everywhere.

The question "Why do you want to engage in such an argument?" is really a separate matter than the actual substance of said argument, no?

I actually dislike everything about Muleman in the same regard as everyone else and to the same degree, but you wouldn't know that because I don't come here every day and put that on display like the rest of ya. Not surprisingly that's probably why I could care less whether he's disappeared or not.

I have political debates all the time. That said, I don't know anyone who says the things muleman says in "real life"...the type of "dialog" he brings to the table here, and therefore gets in return, seems to be a uniquely internet thing in my experience. If you don't want to engage at that level, good for you. But your "I post better than you therefore I am better than you" finger-wagging is no better...it's just another side of the "problem" you seem to think you are above.

Yeah guys, I think it's gotten kind of boring in here for some of you.
So far in this thread Gondicar is the only one who has been registered on this site longer than me. I'm pretty sure he remembers the several times it got this low in participation due to new "sheriffs" coming in, thinking they should rule the roost and decide who could post what THEY wanted to hear, and heaven help you if you disagreed with them on any subject.
Do any of you remember the group that tried to convince a fellow poster to just go outside and kill himself?
The group that kept belittling others, calling new members trolls and trying to ban anyone who didn't agree with their views?
How about the posters who not only verbally attacked other posters but contacted their employers directing them to be fired, making false claims of abuse and dishonesty?
What about the abuse,false accusations, and threats posted by those who had never been to Rose Hill against those trying to make the resting place of Berry and Duane a secure area.

i don't know if Gondicar was in on the earlier site this one replaced, but what's gone on here, throughout the 14 years I've been here is nothing like what went on then.

It's just another phase of the life of this website. Just like the Earth warms and cools in a cyclic phase, this site goes through phases of those who want to help, and those who want to harm.

The WP has very little value and I guess Rowland and Lana invented it to keep politics and arguments away from the general topics and music of course. Sadly it didn't work.

Debating is fine. I do question when people come to a band's forum and don't discuss the band or music. Applies to Muledude and many others over time.

To me it is trolling and that action ruined this once great forum. Hell we used to have yearly Awards Show done in real time. Various members presenting to others. It was fun, loving and so good spirited. There were also so many great members who tired of the trolls and left.

Miss those days. We may not have always agreed but it was civil.

Now people just cut and paste posts from God knows where and by all these supposed experts. As if anyone reads those cut and paste War And Peace size posts. Poor Gina has been doing it for 15 years now. Would love to see a show of hands for who reads them. 😛

I was going by the registration date for the new site. So you remember what the old site was like, huh?

Well the old site was great but got brutal when things went south with the band. Carry over to friends of various members and just some terrible language. But it was not trolls. It was people on opposite sides.

When Rowland and Lana first created this site it went in a completely different direction. Community got along great. People disagreed at times but no big deal. That's life. For years, there was no better site on the Net. Made so many friends and acquired more music than an army of me could hear. Haven't traded in years and packages still come. Then came Dean. And still it survived but then more trolling and more WP wars and the vibe changed and many hated seeing it. So many awesome members that left because of the trolls and fighting. Shame. Also sucks for Lana and Rowland who put tons of time, money, effort, skills and love into it.

I suggested getting rid of the WP years ago but it just would have moved to Anything Goes. Yet to see a single opinion changed by any post ever. Not much point really. Especially copying some novel and pasting it as if that proves something. Just takes up space. At least have your own opinion or just give us the name of the book.

Now we see many of these members occasionally but it takes illness or death. Understandable and sad but a shame some don't stick around.

I have been registered at least that long and was a member on the old site, but my date got reset when I got temporarily playpenned for - of all things - taking up for otie in a spat he had with another banned poster. I didn't really start posting a lot until I met Bill Ector at the Beacon and he encouraged me to start posting and meeting some of the other posters. It has been a grate thing for me because I have made some wonderful friends.

I remember when Deano had the whole site pasted with pictures of a vagina statue that time... What a sick puppy.
