Donald Trump: Worried About Mexican Immigrants Perpetrating Violence in the U.S.?

Sorry, I haven't seen anyone here on this site espousing them.
Same here, and for sure I will agree - there are power and control freaks in all political parties.
Was considering a wager of 100$, but that would buy some solid search time, you never know what someone might dig up. 20$ keeps it more off the top of your head knowledge.
People get accused of advocating censorship and hate speech laws on here all the time. Right here in this thread I was accused of agitating for censorship, because I dared to suggest that there was such a thing as hate speech. Then it is suggested that I am alluding to violence when I say that in good conscience I can't idly let denial of hate speech pass without reacting, meaning simply countering denial of hate speech with opposing comments. Why even go there? How paranoid and rabid is that?

I asked for a Legal definition only to be told...yada, yada yada.....
How about any definition of "Hate speech"?

I’d argue that what we see and hear online or on social media, isn’t reality.
Finally an interesting topic! Great to see an earnest attempt to break out of the roomful of mrrors. Your statement leads to some fishbowl logic - as it is something we have seen online in social media . . . so is it reality?

How about any definition of "Hate speech"?
Ok ok, how about we let go of the words "Hate Speech" for a sec - it looks to me as if you are hung up on the term itself, which is abused in political discourse. I can budge on that no problem.
Would you concede that there is such a thing as "hateful speech" ? Meaning "Speech that demeans on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, disability, or any other similar ground . . ."

Only by virtue of a label or definition that seems very, very important to some to be able to sling as a means to describe phrases they care not to hear, or more importantly, "Believe to be wrong"...
How about just using the words "I disagree"?

I’ll pay you whatever you want to take this advice for yourself.
I'll pay you the same to find ONE post where I've called anyone here a name or a slur when I've disagreed....
Take your time

Huh??? Just asking for a yes or no, not more 3 Card Monty!
Damn, can't catch a break around here. I fully backed off and sh*tcanned the term "Hate Speech" in a good faith effort to find common understanding. I recognize that a label like "Hate Speech" can be used as a propaganda tool.
Work with me here: I asked a simple question "Do you think there is such a thing as hateful speech?"
Why is it so hard to answer yes or no?

That was easy, found one right here in this thread , you callng someone a name. A mild ineffectual and meaningless name, but a name nonetheless, to whit:
Snowflake. You can hand it out, but you can't take it.
"Snowflake" is a term of derision, and is used for name-calling . I will take my winnings in twenties in thousand dollar packets, as much as you can pay for the rest of your life, debt transferable to your descendants, thanks.

As a matter of fact, I'd pay a hefty tax for the President to take that advice too. I'd pay a lot of money for any far right conservative President, if he was just a decent respectful person. Trump has lowered the bar so much that all I can hope for is someone with courtesy and respect for all Americans.
You'd think that would be a given with a president, but the despicable one would rather criticize or pick fights with anyone in his path such as gold star parents, those with disabilities, women, minorities, people of color, children in cages, and our former allies. You have to admire his humanitarian traits and compassion for his fellow man.

I'm liking what I am hearing from Joe Walsh. No not Rocky Mtn Way, the Tea Party guy who is calling Trump out, am hoping others will get some courage from his leadership.

He is speaking out against Trump, but he has plenty of his own baggage such as jumping on the Obama is a Muslim train. He also has stated plenty of of racist things and admitted it today on several shows that he has many racists tweets...so he really doesn't get much of a pass.

For sure. Certainly unusual, someone admitting to racism. Unheard of. The only people I have ever heard admit to racism are Malcolm X, myself, and a couple folks on this board a few years back. It is a huge step in the right direction.

I have seen many "progressive" thinkers urging the adoption of them. (Just look it up on the web.)
I’d argue that what we see and hear online or on social media, isn’t reality. I’m not trying to single you out at all, because I think society in general has been misled into believing that the internet and Twitter are accurate representations of real life. But it’s not real. People spout all kinds of garbage behind their keyboard confidence, but when faced with the same conversation in real life, they are much more civil. Twitter is fantasy land where people go to be who they wish they could be.
I’ve seen radio stations change their programming and entire business because of what they were hearing from their listeners on Twitter. If people on Twitter complained about something, the station stopped airing it to appease them. They say “our research shows that.....”
Meanwhile, 5% of their listeners were posting on Twitter. They changed their programming because 5% complained. But because their Twitter feed was filled the same complaint, it seemed like a widespread problem when in fact, it wasn’t.
Same thing happens with politics. All the garbage we hear online comes from a fraction of a percent of our population. And these same few people wouldn’t even behave that way in real life. If people started reacting to real life, and real conversations with real people, instead of reacting to a fringe Twitter account or some random article, we’d all be in a much better place.
Clinging to a scapegoat? Do you blame your anger on others? Then get off the internet and start having real conversations. We’d all see that people aren’t as bad as they appear online.
Basically, what I meant by "Look it up on the web.", was look up the news stories about who is calling for hate speech laws. You would be surprised as to the people who have spewed hateful and derisive language over the years are calling for hate speech laws.

What is a mrror?

HOW ABOUT A COMPREHENSIVE MENTAL HEALTH EXAM FOR EVERY AMERICAN WHITE MALE WHO ATTEMPTS TO PURCHASE A WEAPON??
Not only was that a racist post, but it was a capitol racist post.

What is a mrror?
"Trout did another thing which some people might have considered eccentric: he called mirrors leaks. It amused him to pretend that mirrors were holes between two universes.
If he saw a child near a mirror, he might wag his finger at a child warningly, and say with great solemnity, 'Don't get too near that leak. You wouldn't want to wind up in the other universe, would you?'
Sometimes somebody would say in his presence, 'Excuse me, I have to take a leak.' This was a way of saying that the speaker intended to drain liquid wastes from his body through a valve in his lower abdomen.
And Trout would reply waggishly, 'where I come from, that means you're about to steal a mirror.'
And so on."
From "Breakfast of Champions" by Kurt Vonnegut

Oh. Finally saw that. Honestly don't know what a mrror is. Automatic writing again.

Is your keyboard haunted too? Or does it have some of those Gremlins from the Kremlin?
