Are you enjoying some Sunday Georgia football? I am.

Seeing as I decided to open some beer I home-brewed and enjoy a few, eventually I did.

Yeah, I heard him during the Vols and aTm game. He gave the most vague answers possible. Like what is the big secret. He said they worked all week on it, why is it still so unclear? Why not play it on Sunday like UGA and SC did or Charlotte and FAU? He wouldn't tell us what was discussed or what the possibilities were from the respective parties' points of view.

Yeah, I get the logistics needing to be worked out and all that. But this guy is less impressive every time he speaks. It sure sounds like they don't really have a lot of control over this. do the schools have this much power?

Man I thought that Vols were still going to win that game yesterday. Just crazy game...like all their games. Don't know how they have enough healthy bodies or gas in the tank to play Bama this week. Arkansas was just good enough to keep it a 2-3 score game throughout, but I thought Tide pretty much dominated. Saban was NOT happy with his defense post game. Big week of practice coming up for that unit in T-Town. Don't know what the line is...maybe Bama 10 or 11. Healthy Tennessee team I think could take Alabama to the limit, but such a tough stretch and attrition for them. But that is why we watch.

Man, I have to tell you I thought for sure that Tennessee was going to get their tail handed to them. Based on 2 things. #1-A&M was much better than I thought they were - turns out they're not and #2-All Week here on sports talk radio they had been talking about NOTHING but the Hail Mary over UGA. and I thought, if the team is dwelling on that half as much as the fans are - they'll be out of it before their seats get warm.

Boy, was I wrong about that too! I mean it looked like it at first, but, that turned around.

When they scored to tie and take into OT my only thought was "When is this BBQ going to be ready?" Then, actually I had another thought meaning that I, in fact, had 2 thoughts "This is a team of destiny and there's not a damn thing you can do about it so get comfortable with that notion." Then I went back to thinking about when my ribs would be ready because, now, with OT about to happen I'd have to eat near a TV...I know, way more information than you wanted amiright?

But yeah, they are M*A*S*H unit heading into BAMA that's for sure. I dunno, Josh Dobbs appears to be the great equalizer I think.

I think, at a certain point, you have to wonder about the mental grind playing all of these games takes on a team. I mean, it can't be easy?

The other thing too is that Tennessee can't keep giving the ball away like they're acid tabs at Woodstock. A team, like Alabama, or maybe even Arkansas or Missouri ( with competent offenses, Just sayin') could put those guys in a hole so big a comeback would be darn near impossible.

Exciting, these games may be, but that's only when you win. Otherwise it's simply just gut wrenching and and is alot like eating liver.

My Wildcats may actually get to go bowling this year. Football season will drive a man crazy here in Kentucky.

I hope so. I'm holding a UK over 5 win total ticket!

I think if Tennessee can play a game to their potential, not over their heads and not lucky, they can compete with Alabama for 4 quarters. But like you said Chris, this 4 game grind, you'd have to think has taken a toll on them. But for Bama, got to believe they will be up and A game is what they should bring.

But the injuries. I think Krikland is back this week. But Reeves-Maybin? Sutton is still out. Barnett is having an amazing year...but so is Bama...something like 7 of the 11 starters on D have scored TDs for Tide!

I'll be watching Saturday ofcourse. I think everyone in America should be. You get your money's worth when Tennessee plays that is for sure.

I think we can pull out 3 more. Next weekend we have Mississippi State so HOPEFULLY that will be another W. We shall see. Kentucky Football can be very detrimental to one's health.....
But, went to the first official basketball practice last night here in Lexington and it was insane, so needless to say football has been officially put on the back burner here in the Bluegrass.

We have another Kentucky fan who posts, Bill aka fast43. Cool there are two UK fans! Three if you count me cheering for 3 more wins. I think you can get Miss St, but am more worried about the Missouri game now than I was in the summer. Mizzou D has regressed, but their O is light years ahead of where they were last year. It's been a few years since the UGA game was competitive, but suppose this would be the year to try and get them. Who knows with the Vols, who knows with any Vol game at this point. Best of luck from here out!

Here's a poser:

Assuming a one loss team gets into the final four, and assuming Michigan & Ohio State run the table until they meet, could the loser of their match up get in? Or does a one loss team need to lose in September? Cool

Awesome, UK Alumni right here, graduated in 2013 (5 year plan! hey it happens!) and still living in Lexington. But yes, Mizzou does worry me as well as TN like you mentioned. Louisville will be a blood bath unfortunately. I hate those dirty birds. Gonna try to go to the Miss St. game on Friday night if Keeneland isn't too tough on me.

Fun day on Saturday. Clemson and Ohio State pull things off. Houston too.

Notre Dame & Michigan State are just awful. They should play again just to see who loses worst.

I went 21 and 6 yesterday in the college pool. Pretty good but not quite good enough to win the week.

The dumpster fire that has become Notre Dame just gets worse and worse. And oh, Michigan State!

Atleast when you have a run like Dantonio has had, you build up some good will to not be totally crucified...same with Shaw at Stanford. But Michigan State has been held under 100y rushing in 3 of the last 4! And NW just ran it down their throat yesterday.

Funny about Northwestern sitting at 3-3 right now, that would probably have been considered their floor projecting this summer at the halfway point had they won all the games they should've but lost. Wins at Iowa and East Lansing in back-to-back weeks. Last year is last year, but no doubt Fitz is building up the confidence in his kids with wins over the two teams that were in the B1G Title game last year.

Lee are you in the pick'em?

In case you were wondering...that was me that won the last 3 weeks straight 😉 Fast43 coming in very close 2nd and legalizehemp a strong 3rd for the season so far - how are you enjoying having a little more interest in the college games Tim?

DanB, the bottom has fallen out man, what's up?

Well, they got their asses handed to them Saturday! Wow. It was very brutal in person, and I erased the DVR as soon as I got home. I haven't even watched the Butch Jones show this week.

I will say that Saban showed some class and restraint by not running up the score any more. He certainly could have hung more on UT.

Bama is #1 today with near unanimous agreement.

Clemson sure has things go their way when it matters, wonder if there's a limited amount of luck in that horseshoe.

At no point did I think that Ohio State wasn't going to win.

Alabama is the class of the field.

We've had season tickets for 44 and I think this is the first time I've seen us come from behind to win on the last play . Not counting OT games. In 91 we beat Cincy on a FG as time ran out but that game was tied.

I've seen other teams win like that against us.

I was really into that game Bill and glad UK came out on top. Miss St has double digit lead, then UK has double digit lead...just when they are about to ice it, MSU gets a 10-14 pt swing the other way on D, then MSU takes the lead. How about that clock mismanagement on the final drive...they took 2 timeouts to the locker room! You know all of that. What really mattered with the game on the line, final offensive play and final special teams play the team executed flawlessly on those two plays and got the victory.

Hope you guys can keep it rolling right now in Columia Missouri. Nothing to like about Mizzou right now, but can never assume anything when it comes to UK football.

Lots of nice Soph players on that D. I'd like to see them get the bowl practices , keep some coaching staff continuity and see if they can take the next step...or atleast maintain the step we hope they are coming up to...bowl eligibility every year and beating 1 or 2 you're not supposed to.

Go Cats!

Couple interesting games tonight:

Virginia Tech at Pitt
Cal at USC

and a few MAC games + App St-Geo Southern if you are into that kind of thing.

They only took one to the locker room. My feelings about that is they need to keep that TO in case there was confusion when the kicking team comes out. How often do see that situation with no TO's and then they get a Delay penalty.

I always take a photo of the scoreboard and post it on my facebook page after a win.

Not a fan of Friday night games in the big ten. Seems like they are putting the tv money above the fans. Hoping Michigan and Western Michigan win out.

Sport Execs and TV people have been putting money before fans for a long time now. Not that I agree with that principle, but everyone needs growth, growth, growth...more and more and more revenue. And the TV Channels have so many channels now they need inventory (games) so they can sell ads for their games. They will be able to get more commercial money from Burger King for a Big Ten game vs a CUSA game. ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, SEC Network, Big Ten Network, Fox Sport 1, Fox Sports 2, NBC Sports Network, CBS Sports Network (which is broadcasting a 6:00 eastern start of Buffalo at Ohio University as I type). So many channels they need programming and they need desirable programming so they can support their empires.

I selfishly love it on Friday (or any other day). Allows a game to have a spotlight that it otherwise wouldn't. Plus, for a fan like me that has no team to follow or support and just wants to watch it all, the more games there are stuck on Saturday the harder it is to watch all of them (although I try with 8 tvs). So spreading games out on weekday games makes it better for me, or others like me, that want to see as much as possible.

I do think eventually it will be diminishing returns for the TV and Conference people. You get to a point that too much of something just waters it down and takes the specialness away from it. NASCAR, NFL have seen rating peak in recent years are are seeing declines right now. Gets to a point of oversaturation and I think it impacts people's overall interest and excitement about the sport. We'll see if that happens with college football. The Big Ten has played some opening week games on Friday before. Northwestern, Indiana, Michigan St, Minnesota come to mind all having played some week 1 Friday games for a few years now. I remember Ohio St playing Wyoming I think on a Thursday maybe in the mid 1990s, but traditionally the likes of OSU, Mich, PSU, Iowa have stuck to Saturday.

People are starting to consume the product (live sporting events) differently, so the days of enormous TV contracts in the traditional sense may be reaching expiration. They'll try anything to keep the gravy train going as long as they can.

I see how it could benefit a lower tier team. I just would think it would be a logistics nightmare for a Michigan with all the people coming into town and with students taking classes. Michigan also doesn't like playing night games at home either.

Kind of a surprising year in the big ten with Michigan State doing so bad and Minnesota in a position to make the championship game.

I have a philosophical problem with there being college games being played on Fridays. That day is reserved for high school football. Being from the Midwest, Fridays are for high school games. If you are a high school student (or are on the team), wouldn't it piss you off if you couldn't watch the college game? Does the NCAA not have enough money????

Nobody ever has enough money I suppose. But it isn't the NCAA, TV deals are directly between the TV Networks and the Conferences. There was some court case in the 1980s that removed any authority the NCAA had TV programming.

Yeah regarding Michigan St, with just 3 games left Rutgers will play Michigan St Saturday, both seeking their first B1G win!

Minnesota has benefited from several misleading final scores in their favor vs teams that aren't that good. But will be fun to see them play for the division crown now with back-to-back-to-back games vs Nebraska-Northwestern-Wisconsin. I am hoping they beat Wisconsin this year. Gophers haven't had the axe for 12 years!

Notre Dame nailed this years ago. The Big Ten went after them for years and they repeatedly turned them down for entrance into the Big Ten.

Always fun surprises awaiting us throughout the season aren't there. Here is how I would rank top 9, beyond that I don't know. The 3-7 ranking is difficult. Ultimately even though I classify Clemson and Michigan as having bad losses, they have better wins in my opinion over the teams I rank 5-7 giving them the edge.

1. Alabama 10-0 - 6 wins vs teams with winning records - best wins vs 7-3 USC, at 7-3 LSU, at 7-3 Tenn, vs 8-3 WKU. Questionable performance, none.

2. Ohio St 9-1 - 4 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 7-3 Tulsa, at 8-2 Oklahoma, at 8-2 Wisc, vs 8-2 Neb. Quality loss at 8-2 Penn St (perhaps even fluky loss). Questionable performance against 5-5 Northwestern.

3. Clemson 9-1 - 5 wins vs teams with winning records - best wins vs 9-1 Louisville, at 7-3 FSU, vs 8-1 Troy, at 7-3 Auburn. Bad loss vs home vs 6-4 Pitt as 21 pt favorite, Pitt had just lost by 23 week prior. Questionable performance vs 5-5 NC St who missed chip shot FG for the game.

4. Michigan 9-1 - 4 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 6-4 UCF, vs 8-2 Colorado, vs 8-2 Wisconsin, vs 8-2 Penn St. Bad loss at 5-4 Iowa as 24 pt favorite, Iowa had just lost by 27 week prior.

5. Washington 9-1 - 3 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 6-4 Idaho, 7-3 Stanford, at 8-2 Utah. Quality loss home vs 7-3 USC. Questionable performance at 2-8 Arizona.

6. West Virginia 9-1 - 3 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 6-4 BYU, vs 5-4 TCU, vs 5-4 Kansas St. Quality loss at 8-2 Oklahoma St. Questionable performance at 5-5 Texas.

7. Louisville 9-1 - 2 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 7-3 FSU, at 6-4 Wake Forest. Quality loss at 9-1 Clemson, LV was actually favored in the game. Questionable performances vs 4-6 Duke, at 2-8 Virginia, vs 6-4 Wake Forest (WF led the entire game into the 4th qrt).

8. Penn St 8-2 - 4 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 9-1 Ohio St, vs 7-3 Minnesota, vs 7-3 Temple, 6-4 Iowa. Quality loss at 9-1 Michigan, although PSU was dominated. Bad loss at 6-4 Pitt where Pitt led big before late comeback bid. Questionable performance at 5-5 Indiana (misleading final).

9. Wisconsin 8-2 - 3 wins vs teams with winning records - wins vs 6-3 LSU, vs 8-2 Nebraska, at 6-4 Iowa. Quality loss at 9-1 Michigan, home vs 9-1 Ohio St. Questionable performance vs 2-8 Ga State.

Playoff Committee has WVU 14th I think! LMAO. Maybe 6 where I have them is high, who knows really. But 14th!
