Today I listened to part of Dark side of the moon and part of Wish you were here and both times I phucked up and hit the advance button on my mp3 player and only got through part of each...

I did listen to the entire Pretzel Logic album on my home from San Francisco

@goldtop That is a great way to put it.

The HUNGRY and the OPPORTUNIST.

Alaimo loaned Gregg $500.00 when he was flat broke but wanted half of the publishing on Melissa and I think another song Gregg wrote but didn't use after the ABB formed.

Then when Gregg had some success and money, Gregg approached Steve Alamio with the $500.00 intending to get Alaimo off of Melissa but Alaimo wanted $10,000.00 to sign.

I think Phil Walden finally worked a deal with Alaimo.

I remember when Steve Aliamo had a hit single in the early 60's. It's crummy Alaimo would do that to another singer songwriter.

Looks as if Alaimo didn't write his hit. Bet he got half the writing take somehow:)

Ahhh  Push Push  Slowly I turned. Duane at Christmas. For 2023. Feel so lucky and grateful. The perfect solo. "He was the last word for soul back in those days." as Count Basie said of an earlier time and player. Thanks for that.

How about Bix Beiderbecke!!

Bix was a top trumpet soloist in the 1920's.

Bix Beiderbecke was an alcoholic and died in 1931 at the age of 28.

They said he was screaming in his apartment in New York City and two people ran in and Bix said there were two Mexicans with Daggers hiding under his bed. The man looked under his bed and told Bix there wasn't anything under his bed. Bix suddenly collapsed into the woman who entered the room's arms and was pronounced dead by medics.

Here is Bix Beiderbecke and his gang in 1927!!

Trumpet, Cornet soloist Bobby Hackett was highly influenced by Bix. Bobby landed a job in the Glen Miller Band in 1940. Miller only hired people who were very polished and well above average.

Bobby Hackett scored good sales with several easy listening albums at Capitol.

Bobby died in 1976 of a heart attack at age 61.

Bobby's ability on the Trumpet on Stardust is absolutely outstanding. What an accomplished musician!

One of Stephen's heros was R. L. Burnside. A man who wrote songs, sang and played guitar but lived close to poverty. But felt rich when he played.

@stratdal Just reading an interview with Jeff Beck done not long before he passed away and he said....He was great friends with several incredible guitar players such as Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton but the BEST guitar player Jeff ever saw live was John McLaughlin.

That make me feel I have missed something special as I've never listened to him much. Going to do that this weekend.

Edgar Winter Group with Ronnie Montrose Live at the Syria  Mosque, Pittsburgh 11/3/72

I am a big fan of Ronnie Montrose and was lucky to have seen Edgar Winter Group  with Ronnie open for Humble Pie and again for Ten Years After in 1972.

Edgar would come out dressed all in white with his keyboard strapped to him and would glow in the dark when they hit him with a black light. Great concerts back in those days.

I just got an excellent 9 song SB of this show and here are several songs from that concert

Not much video of Edgar with Montrose but a decent one
