I have been listening to the new Thin Lizzy L&G super deluxe boxset for a week now that has the six concerts they used to create the original L&G. It also has a 7th concert from Seneca College that is referenced in the original LP liner notes but they did not use any tracks from that show due to rumoured tax implications. All the L&G concerts with no overdubs or studio fixes.
Unfortunately, there is no US distribution for this box set, got mine from Amazon UK, and it is all but sold out so prices have gone up from flippers but a great release for Lizzy fans. A band insider who posts on the Steve Hoffman forum has advised there is no plan to repress this but who knows?

If you live outside the US I have been told you can listen to some of the shows on YouTube but they are blocked here in the U.S. Just stellar sound quality for every concert.

Michael Schenker Group Live at the Rockpalast 1981. They played most of their first album. Schenker is a bit of a free spirit and is such an underrated guitar player and does not get much mention when talking abut the all-time greats. His first solo band also had the late great Cozy Powell (RIP) on drums so it was a killer band.

I'd never heard of Dotti Holmberg until I listened to this album the other day. Have to say I'm digging it quite a bit. The CD version features four extra tracks by her brother, Gary (I'd never heard of him, either.) There's a song on the album called "Magic Carpet Ride" but it's not a cover of the well-known hit by Steppenwolf. Some info from the 'Sundazed' website...
Sunshine pop at its finest! Dotti Holmbergâs dreamy vocals superbly combine with her innocent demeanor and saccharine lyrics to give listeners a spell-binding mixture of sticky sweet bubblegum pop. This LP features the former GoldeBriarsâ demos from 1966-1969, studio recordings produced by sunshine pop maestro Curt Boettcher, and is pressed on colored vinyl!
After recording two albums for Epic and Columbia with The GoldeBriars, Dotti was left to forge a new path in the music business after the band broke up. She continued to write and record home demos in her Hollywood studio apartment, many of which are included here. A few years later, Dotti reconnected with ex-GoldeBriar Curt Boettcher. Curt, already recognized in Hollywood for his work with the Association, had started his own label: Our Productions.
With Curtâs help, Dotti became the backup singer on the recordings of Tommy Roe, Bobby Jameson, Friar Tuck, and Lee Mallory, who would eventually become a member of Boettcherâs new recording effort, the Millennium. Then, in the classic case of the backup singer who advanced to lead, Curt decided to produce five singles with Dotti. Two of the songs were hers. The studio where all this took place, Columbia Records Hollywood, shared an amazing new technology with Columbia Records New York: two twelve-track tape machines synchronized to harness a total of twenty-four tracks. And this was the new plaything for two very particular talents, one in New York, the other in L.A.: Paul Simon and Curt Boettcher.
The musicians who backed Dotti were pure cream: Mike Deasy, Ben Benay, Jerry Scheff, and Toxie French of the Wrecking Crew. But before the sides could be pressed, promoted and released, Our Productions went under and all of her recordings were shelved.
Now unearthed and released from the vaults, Sundazed Music is delighted to bring Dottiâs music to light once again.

CSNY 1974 3CD/ 1DVD set.
Love this electrified Black Queen......I saw CSN live but sadly never CSNY live. Very sad that David Crosby has passed. So many of these legendary musicians have recently passed into the great beyond.
Thankfully they left us with timeless music for generations to enjoy.
Where are the new generation of musicians that make music like this?

In response to Bill Graham's question on 2-19 "Where are the new generation of musicians that make music like this?"
I will suggest he listen to the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Derek and Susan have come up with a truly wonderful vision. They have to be one of the finest bands on the road these days. Check out their newest release, a four CD album entitled "I Am The Moon". Please comment in return if you have the desire of time to do so.

I know and do listen to TTB but they are not a young band. Trucks is 43 and Susan is 52 so not exactly young. As good as they are they are still playing theaters or small auditoriums so they are, IMHO, a niche or Cult band as much of the youth today doesn't even know who they are.
The bands that made music in the golden era of rock in the 1960/70's were in their early to mid 20's when they made the timeless music still worshipped today.
Where are the modern 21st Century bands who are popular that will make the timeless music and still be touring 40 years from now?
Where are the current/Â future Allman Brothers, Stones, Led Zeps, CSNY, Hendrix, Doors, etc whose music will endure into the future? Maybe I am just stuck in the past but I can't think of any modern bands/ musicians who will still be popular in 40 years.

It seems that the âLiveâ record is mostly an art form of the past. In the diaspora of funk, soul, and jazz music, we have so many legendary live albums we can reference, from Cannonball Adderley, Jimmy Smith, Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway⊠the list is endless really. We present SFSEâs first outing in this noble arena. âLive at Panama 66â showcases songs from SFSEâs first 4 LPs as well as some choice cover tunes. The record was performed and recorded live in a beautiful outdoor setting in San Diego, CA. It was indeed a picture perfect Motherâs Day in Balboa Park, with SFSE throwing down their uniquely funky, cinematic vibes. We hope you enjoy it.
