Completely blown away by this great, great country artist last night. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not much of a country music fan, but Bingham is a huge exception. I just love this guy. He doesn't have a great voice, but he brings the songs home with his emotional delivery. And he's a magnificent writer with a huge array of great tunes. Bingham is an excellent guitarist, and he plays both acoustic and electric. He's got a large and great band which includes two other guitar players, fiddle and keyboards. Bingham had a couple of surprises which you wouldn't expect from a country artist: He opened with The Doors' Roadhouse Blues. And late in the second set he delivered a sterling Whipping Post. I didn't time it, but it was around a 2 hour show: Two 45 minute sets with a 30 minute intermission, then a 30 minute encore. Maybe half of the encore was Bingham alone onstage with an acoustic. It was great. I was disappointed in the turnout, couldn't have been more than 500 people there out of a 2,500 seat theatre. But it was a crowd of very hard core and very enthusiastic Bingham fans. I'd go see this guy anytime. Video to come, once I get around to it.

Yeah, I know, I know, it's taken over the entire nation in the last 24 hours. But it's especially shocking here in Texas, because I don't think anyone expected Gina Hinojosa to defeat Greg Abbott in the Governor's race. And of course, James Talarico defeated Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate seat. Paxton is notorious for his nefarious back-door dealings and history of bribery. I voted for both Hinojosa and Talarico. A Texan Democrat like myself is pretty damn happy this morning. Talarico's statement this morning on CNN: "I am not going into the Senate to represent the Democratic Party, I am going into the Senate to represent the people of the great State of Texas." I think the people's candidate won, and it's about time here in this State. I love this guy.

Born Feb 8, 1950 in Chicago, Candace along with her older brother Berry enjoyed a great childhood and were very involved in the Catholic church. Her father was transferred for work to Florida’s southwest gulf coast where Candace enjoyed her teenage years on the beach at Siesta Key. She chose to forego college and moved to Macon, Ga. to support her brother who was climbing the ranks in the music industry with the Allman Brothers Band. In the 1970‘s Candace was married to the drummer Jaimoe and later in the 1990‘s until 2009 she was married to Capt. Buford S. Birdsey. They resided on St. Simons Island and in Macon, Ga. during their marriage. She will be forever remembered for her sweet smile and sharp tongue that she would use frequently to acquire understanding from others. Candace loved the great outdoors and all the animals that came with it. Her love for dogs was paramount and she has chosen to improve the lives of as many of them as possible through her estate. She passed away peacefully at her home on St. Simons Island with her close friends and dedicated caregivers by her side. Candace will be forever missed but never forgotten. She requested no services.

Jason never tells me about this stuff. I guess he doesn't want to brag. I googled his name Sunday night and this article came up. He's been in the limelight for so long now, you just find stuff. You guitar players may understand the second half of the article; I was completely lost. I even had a great guitarist named Chris here in the El Paso area tell me that he has a very simple setup that he's used for over 25 years, and HE was lost reading Jason's equipment details. Jason has been a gearhead ever since he worked in a music store as a teenager. The article is fairly recent, issued in 2025. Oh, Chris did add this:

"I found what I liked by 2000 and haven't sought out new things, besides replacing my tube screamer with the Octonaut Hyperdrive that Jason did a demo on youtube. It's perfect for me!"

1. Long As I Can See The Light. So awesome. So awesome. And that first vocal line of the final verse after the solo . . .

2. Old Time Rock and Roll — kinda goofy song, but MAN I love that solo.

3. It Makes No Difference (Band)

Can’t think of more off the top of my head but thought of this because I heard Whitney’s “How Will I Know” tonight for the first time in ages and never realized the sax solo in it before.

I'm sure there’s some Springsteen that belongs, just don’t really listen to him much.
