Drag feet, celebrate 50th a year late, have concert in the midst of a pandemic panic. Widespread Panic should open if the show goes on.

It’s gonna be an epic show on Tuesday in that big ol barn not far from where they made their greatest recordings - probly w/that funny smell coming from its far reaches:cool: - mayb that’s why they picked it for the venue, also anticipating ticket prices might become as affordable as they’ve become enabling more people to come
The typical ABB vibe is not as described here for some fans, imho -
no matter what the set list or who sings what, it’s about love for the ABB on Tuesday

They will serve the band justice. Just too bad Dickey won't be there. Him and Jaimoe deserve to be on the stage together one more time. I don't understand that man at all, even if he came out for 2 songs it would make the moment so much better.

Which is why for those who show up on Tuesday night, you are going to get your proverbial arse handed to you in typical Allman Brothers fashion and walk away like you just went 12 rounds with Ali in his prime!!!!

Yes he was invited. It was in the initial press release. It said he had prior commitments. Shortly after, Oteil gave an interview and said a little more:

All the surviving members of the Allman Brothers Band’s final lineup are confirmed to appear with the Brothers and, obviously, both Reese and Chuck have a long history with the group. Did you ask any other former members to participate, especially Dickey?

"We did reach out to Dickey, but his manager said he is not able to fly right now. It might have something to do with his health issues, but we did reach out to him, for sure. We would definitely have liked him to be there."

At least the last part is definitely not their fault! I've always wondered if this delay was because of scheduling or it if was because of the time it took to put together the big box set, because obviously all of that was intended to happen at the same time.

So they talked to his manager and not him.....Prior commitments is BS. He does not want to be on stage with those 2 monster gutar players. Nothing wrong with that I guess as Dickey realizes he just can't do it anymore and is in not great health. This was the chance of a lifetime though for him.

LMAO. March '71 was the chance of a lifetime and he TOOK it! Watkins Glen, getting back together in '89. These will be remembered long after 3/10/20 is forgotten.

Whatever dude, considering the guy will never go on a stage again and play and supposedly the last time for these guys...It is a chance of a lifetime for him...

You are right. Dickey can't play guitar or sing well now. His age and hard living finally caught up with him.

As far as those two monster guitar players are concerned, I've seen him on stage with BOTH of them, especially Warren and often smoked them on some songs each night and occasionally the entire show. I remember 1999 in Las Vegas. Dickey either smoked Derek Trucks or played just as strong as Derek the entire night. Dickey's guitar solo on the end of Ramblin'Man was hot man. And went on for awhile. Susan was the opening band and I think that is the she and Derek met.

And Dickey stood his own next to Duane Allman who on many nights was flat smoking. Duane had more energy in many of his solos than anyone ever in the band.

But I hear ya. It would be sweet if Dickey could show if he did nothing more than walk out and wave.

Don’t know if I’d call it the chance of a lifetime, but yes it’d be great to see him there to share in what he helped create & have a hug w/the guys (especially Jaimoe) & a wave to the crowd - that I think would bring the house down just like the music they’ll be playing - Kim Payne & Willie Perkins would deserve to be there & introduced too, they were almost as big a part of growing the band as the musicians were imo
I love the ABB
