TTB-I Am The Moon: II. Ascension

Anyone have the 2nd release? Thoughts?
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

No not me. It's out. I better go get it. Like the first one better than any TTB studio album so far.

Wait to you hear it live with a good buzz.

It's good
LaDi Da reminds me of a Dylan tune
Rainy Day is really cool
They have been playing So Song Savior a lot, that's a fun tune
I like the 1st one better, but this one is good

It's a very strong release, one that I keep hitting "replay" on.
I'll admit that I prefer the first one by a hair - any CD that has a Derek instrumental is going to be the winner!!
This one has more contemplative moments. Derek gets his sitar-ish groove on, and it's hypnotic.
When I saw them live last week, they played the whole 5 songs from the first CD and 1 from the second: "So Long Saviour," which is a great bluesy romp, almost like the fast part of the Allmans' take on "Come On In My Kitchen."
I think Gabe Dixon is the X-factor who has kicked their songwriting up a notch, but it's also clear that they understand both themselves as a band AND the studio process better than they did in the past. I like some songs on "Revelator," but thought it sounded a little sterile. These new albums sound very warm and lived-in. The arrangements let everyone shine. I bet it sounds GREAT on headphones!!!!

New music is outstanding an blending in Les Brers & Done Somebody Wrong just a great show.

And once again I have been listening to this non-stop. What an epic project this is. I am enjoying the whole band on these releases. Top notch to me. Already looking forward to IV the Farewell.

@steved I really love how they've staggered the release, especially over the course of their current tour. It makes it so much easier to soak it all in, bit by bit. And they can slowly sneak it into the set lists.

@robertdee - Yes great new music and wish I was at Red Rocks last 2 nights, any concert reviews?

Love part 3
shades of Albert King and Allen Toussaint with great slide by Derek

Disc 3 has the most varied VOCAL approach from the band yet. Gabe does a song, Mike does a song, and we get some lead vocals from Mark Rivers, plus we hear more Alecia than I think we've ever heard.
In a different era, "Gravity" would be a radio hit.
