What isn't mentioned anywhere in the email. Or the FAQ. Or the TTB website:

The fanclub costs $40/year.

That's right. The family band with the emphasis on comminication
HIDES the fee until you are 3/4 of the way into the signup process.

Just the fact that they can't say that upfront SAYS IT ALL

Yeah sure, but it is camouflaged in those big red letters, and they put it right at the beginning so you would surf past it. Snakes.

Nothing like the band adding a yearly surcharge to the tickets you might buy.
They can keep their membership cuz the bootlegs will always be free.

40$ is more than fair for all the cool stuff they are offering. Price of two or three CDs.

I wanted to share it, however I just don't see myself paying extra for downloads and a little earlier chance to get tickets.

They have a ton of well recorded shows on archive.org.
Free.

If I lived near a favorite venue of theirs I might pay more
for better seats.

I miss the old forum they had and wish there was an
unpaid option for that.

I’ve been an Allman Bros fan for years, so I’ve purchased several Instant Live shows. I know that I could find those shows in trading circles for free, but I don’t mind paying artists for their work. I have had several jobs myself, so I understand that workers should be paid for their efforts. I’ve been happy to watch tons of stuff on YouTube for free, mind you, but I buy the official DVDs.

I have long wished for the TTB to do something like Instant Live or Moogis. While there is a ton of excellent TTB stuff on YouTube for free, I do appreciate when a band gets to put their stamp on it. A recording done on a 64 channel board probably has some sonic advantages over most bootlegs.

If 40 bucks gets me two Instant Live- type downloads, I am in. That is a no-brainer. If it comes with bonus video content along the way, terrific. If I get pre-sale ticket purchase advantage, bring it on. If it supports the band’s ability to release more of their work, I’m in.

I’ve never had a problem paying for movies I love, music I love, food I love, etc. I don’t know why anyone would assume that things should be free just because they want them to be.

Overall, I think this is a reasonable deal do I custy’d upfor it. I have plenty of auds that have d/‘d.
These 2 shows are great - I was at the Boston show. It was one of the 2 best TTB shows I was at. The sound quality of these are excellent.

I think the deal is worth it. If not I won’t renew after next year

It says that it costs $40 right on the page.

I am not going to join as it's extremely easy to get TTB tickets via pre-sales from the venues themselves, and as other people posted AUDs are freely available.

This thread is hilarious. How many free Fan Clubs have you seen.....ever? Why is this so upsetting? They aren't forcing anyone to buy the membership. There's plenty of things to be upset about these days, this just doesn't seem to me to be one of them.

Reminds me of that newspaper clipping from The Simpsons w/ the picture of Grandpa Simpson, "Old Man Yells At Cloud".

Thank you, jparadise. Also, most times this is not a 'band' decision, but rather the fan club that wants to do good things for their fans.

Ive belonged to multiple fan clubs and
never been asked for a fee of any kind.

But hey. Let's all get on the bandwagon and pony up for all the
Peach Corps years they charged up nothing. (Sarcasm)

Join if you think this is worth the money, if not, don't. There are plenty of great audience shows available, but if you listen to a professional, multi-track recording you can tell the difference.

If this helps the band release more professionally available music I am all for it. I don't usually work for free (except volunteer work I guess), so we all need to get paid.

Believe it if you need it, if you don't then pass it on ....

Peace and Happy Holidays for whichever ones you celebrate this time of year Smile

Peach Corps compared to the TTB fanclub is not a fair comparison.

If Peach Corps had included 2 free Instant Lives a year, plus a few of these extras, it would be comparing basically the same thing. Peach Corp didn't. It got us access to some pre-sales and Lana's email.

So far, so good
The d/ls are great shows and high quality recordings
There was a special presale 2 hours before the usual pre sale. There were some glitches, likely because of our friends at Live Nation. Wound up with great seats
I'm not gonna ask for my money back at this point.

Chargin' fans to be fans?
They pay to go to the shows.
They buy merchandise at the shows.
They buy music, T Shirts and other stuff to support the band.
I don't think this is a great idea.

Exactly. Why would I expect this content for free. All musicians are getting jammed up at every point. So if I can support my favorite band at a reasonable price, I'm gonna do it.

The Fan Club does NOT charge fans to be fans. You CAN be a fan for free!! Check out the generous amount of TTB content on YouTube. Unlike some bands / artists, the TTB does not shut that down. They allow taping, so you can still tape, still trade for shows. The Fan Club does NOT charge fans to be fans. You CAN be a fan for free!!

The Fan Club is charging $40 for membership that includes downloads of TWO full shows, plus other goodies. That is different.

I was just looking at the Munck Music Site for the Allman Brothers; to download one Beacon show, it is $14.95 for mp3, $19.95 for FLAC, or $24.95 for FLAC-HD. So, if you multiplied by that two, as you get TWO downloads for shows with the Fan Club, the price is not that much different, right?

I buy tickets, CDs, etc. I don't need to pay more to be a fan.

I wonder what their break even number is.
I'm sure they wouldn't launch with a fee if
they were not assured of getting it.

Does anyone know what the sound quality on the shows available for download are like? Are we talking boards? Can I select from any and all TTB shows?

Would love to hear a board of TTB’s 2014 Mountain Jam set.

What do you mean by “256, they pick em”?

Do I get to choose from 256 shows that they chose to make available or do they just say, “here are the two shows”?

Never mind. I see.

2 a year.

Chicago 18 (betting its the Saturday show) and Boston 16 (last night?) for this year.

That Saturday Chicago 18 show is awesome

Looks like others will be made available on nugs.

They also mention live streaming- not clear if that is streaming recordings or shows as they happen. Would love some as they happen streaming

This is one thing that the fan club website says about the sound quality of the download:

"The download was produced from the original 64-track soundboard recording by Bobby Tis, and mixed and mastered for release by Jesse Lauter."
