Dickey's songs were great,I don't know if there's a 'best' one ; Blue Sky, Elizabeth Reed,Southbound,Jessica,High Falls,Les Brers... They were so uplifting & some had so many layers to them. He certainly has a lot of variety to his music. I always liked it when he pulled out his acoustic slide with the Allman Brothers.

For me, it's between Blue Sky & IMOER, I also really like Sail Away. So many others...

theres some other choices here I wouldn't have considered,I'll have to listen to those again too.

thinking about Dickey onstage, you know, this guy always looked like one, hardworking guitarist while playing. He always seemed to put a lot into his craft as he played with the band.
Gotta hand it to him.

absolutely, & Madness/West always comes to mind in terms of many different layers & sections -- instead of the standard guitar/organ/guitar arrangement of its predecesor, Pegasus, the little mini-sections & melodies of Madness make it as special an ABB instrumental as Pegasus is
Nobody Knows is a lot like that too, with many different twists & turns & emotion pouring out of both songs -- as you said, you gotta hand it to him

I'm actually surprised that no jazz group has covered Liz Reed (to my knowledge). Such a great, great tune

IMOER

Cool

And my third vote; perhaps my favorite song of all time. Jazz-Rock fusion without falling overboard into Jazz. Probably not covered by a Jazz group because it relies so heavily on the guitar and organ roles.
