I'm glad they didn't get blown away. They are to me one of the best bands out there. I need to get their new album. Didn't see it at the record store at the mall yesterday. Only one CD copy of Eat A Peach in the Allman Brothers section and nothing else. Nothing at all from Gregg. Two CDs from Lynard Skynyrd. Both the first album with Free Bird. Lots of copies of Taylor Swift CDs.

A few weeks ago I saw a guitar magazine had its readers rank slide guitar players. .

Derek Trucks came in first as the best modern slide player whatever modern means.

Duane Allman was number two and was said to be the all time goat for slide playing in any era.

Warren Haynes came in fourth.

So three of our boys made the list of ten.

Actually, and I think you will agree, Jack Pearson should be on the list of 10 bumping one on the list.

But Jack usually doesn't made these contests. Why? Jack isn't that well known and that is a shame. I've mentioned Jack several times to the young guitar players hanging out at the big music store here and they don't know who he is. They would if we were in Nashville I bet.

Billy Strings was recently asked in an interview I saw who was the best guitar player out there to him and Billy said Jack Pearson. The guy apparently by his reaction didn't know about Jack which isn't surprising.

Thanks so much for posting that.  I finally got around to watching the entire one hour segment this morning on my smart TV.  Just great stuff.  Hilarious story (39 minute mark), Susan describing touring with Bob Weir in 2001 when she was pregnant.  Bob kept offering her mushrooms, and of course she responded, "I'm pregnant!  I can't do that!"  Bob:  "Oh, OK, I'll just do yours and mine both."  I'm talking RIGHT before the show.  And of course, Bob proceeded to walk out there and just kill it.

After watching this one, YouTube led me to this, which is another great one, and it's only 9 minutes long.  The story of how the COVID lockdown saved The Tedeschi/Trucks Band and how Mike Mattison (a Harvard grad and an English major) inspired the entire band to read the lengthy Layla poem which of course inspired Clapton as well.  I liked this video so much that I'm starting a separate thread.

Damn!  Mickey dosed a horse and Bob repeatedly offered a pregnant women psilocybin mushrooms!

I enjoyed watching . They have a nice home and studio.

I bought I Am The Moon and played it all the time for weeks. But it says it's one of four albums. I only have one. Guess I'm not keep up with what's going on.

I do know Taylor Swift has rented Madison Square Garden for a wedding. She is marrying a librarian isn't she?

It was released in 4 parts, but you can listen to it as one album now.

Has Derek become more extroverted over time? Certainly seems that way from this fan's perspective

Or maybe his time in the Allmans just lent more to being the young stoic wizard type and we didn't see it as much?

@islalala:  I don't think there's ANY doubt about Derek becoming much more extroverted over the last 10 years or so.  Before that, it seemed like he'd rather take a crap than speak into a microphone.

@robslob Not meaning to sound gross or vulgar, but as you get older you'll find that nothing is more underrated in life than a good crap!  Talking into a hot mic ... that can lead to trouble!  😉

It may be because he is running his own band ( with his wife ) now and that requires him to do interviews.

In 1970 and 1971 at the shows I saw, Duane Allman did most of the talking with Berry Oakley doing some. Gregg did very little and none at a few shows and only sang and Dickey, Butch and Jaimoe didn't talk. Gregg and Dickey did all the talking after they were kinda fronting the band.

First time I saw Derek as a member of the ABB was at this Las Vegas show in 1999. And it was my first time seeing Susan as she was an opening act with her own band. She played a blue/green Telecaster with signatures all over the body.

This features a few of the songs at that show. The second song is Blue Sky and Derek plays a beautiful Blue Sky solo and toward the end of the solo Derek really steps on the gas. I love his playing on that.
