Stones covers

Was just listening to Girlschool burnin up "Live With Me", doing it some justice . . . occurred to me there is an amazingly diverse bunch of überböss rockin Stones covers out there:
couple few notables
Jumpin Jack Flash - Johnny Winter (sick live clip here)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eAQYaVlY_SU
Salt of the Earth - Joan Baez
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B0nKAR-jb_0
Satisfaction - Devo
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jadvt7CbH1o
Live With Me - Girlschool
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ycpDh3w30e8
The Last Time - Grateful Dead
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4FPro2heHHE

"You Got the Silver", Susan Tedeschi (w/Derek)
"Let's Spend the Night Together", Muddy Waters
and of course, maybe the ultimate Stones cover
"Dead Flowers" by Townes Van Zandt
I always wished the Allman Brothers had done something more interesting with "Heart of Stone". They started playing it in 1995 and eventually dumped in onto Hittin' the Note it just never fit the band (though I can see it in a Gregg solo set). Anyone know have any idea who or why they picked that tune?

Here is one of my favorite Stones covers - Dramarama doing a ripping version of "Memo From Turner":

Not the biggest Phish fan but this is pretty fun.
Loving Cup

There are probably too many Black Crowes / Rich Robinson covers of the Stones out there, but I was fortunate enough to see the Crowes tackle both "Torn and Frayed" and "I Just Want to See His Face," and Rich has covered "Winter," and those are all great.
Just want to See His Face:

Wild Horses - Old and In the Way
Good one, yep it was the Stones that covered this one
Quick ?, who covered I Wanna Be Your Man - LenMac wrote it, it was on Meet The Beatles - but wasn’t it also on the slightly earlier England’s Newest Hitmakers
So many killer JJFlash covers - Otis R, Leon R, that Johnny one - but Mountain’s - solid solid smoke
*think I might be mixing up Otis’ Satisfaction w/JJFlash

Taj Mahal doing "Honky Tonk Women."

NRPS doing "Dead Flowers".

"Wild Horses" - Willie Nelson and the Nelson Family. Recorded 2011 proceeds support efforts to stop killing of wild horses. Beautiful video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xSK6leFX9Bo
"Wild Horses" may be the most covered Jagger/Richards song. It has been performed live by tons of artists.

2 of my favorites
Stray Cat Blues - Johnny Winter
Wild Horses - Flying Burrito Bros ( Gram was born to sing this song )

Wild Horses - Flying Burrito Bros ( Gram was born to sing this song )
He may have somehow been involved in the genesis of Wild Horses. Present during the casual guitar sessions where song ideas were coming up, Dead Flowers sounds like a Parsons tune. Parson's style certainly showed up on Sticky Fingers, when Parsons and Richards were tight, and Stones were recording at Muscle Shoals Alabama - "Hickory Wind" Ben Fong Torres bio on Gram is excellent, thats where I found those Parsons/Stones connectons.

I always liked it when bands covered Stones tunes. I saw Patti Smith open a show at the Fillmore with Paint it Black. She killed it. I've seen her do others, as well.
Drive-by Truckers used to cover Moonlight Mile when Isbell was in the band (it was his idea) and that was a fave, too.
Jane's Addiction has a version of Sympathy for the Devil that's pretty damn good.
Merry Clayton, the woman who sings backup on Gimme Shelter did a version of the song on her solo album (along with a great cover of NY's Southern Man) that's cool.
Rage Against the Machine did an interesting cover of Street Fighting Man
Just to name a few more...

Deep Purple turned "Paint It Black" into a live jam, oddly enough.

Wow, haven't heard either. Both "Paint It, Black" live versions by Patti Smith and Deep Purple must have been stellar covers, each in their own way. Perfect bands for that number.
I can't believe nobody is flippin me sh!t for listening to Girlschool lol. And worse, really liking it.

Alvin Youngblood Hart: Sway
I love this Alvin Youngblood Hart take on Sway - great choice. My favorite Sway I think - and this is cheating for this thread maybe - as it's Carla Olson with Mick Taylor - so calling it a cover when he played on the original is dubious - but still this should be heard - Mick Taylor at his best.

Carla Olson and Mick Taylor also do a workout of "Winter" .... 12 minutes.

Luther Allison - You Can't Always Get What You Want
Tumblin Dice - Johnny Copeland
Otis Clay-Wild Horses
Taj Mahal - Honky Tonk Woman (Rolling Stones) Cover
Alvin "Youngblood" Hart Sway
Clarence `Gatemouth` Brown - Ventilator Blues
Beast of Burden The Holmes Brothers
Lucky Peterson-Under My Thumb
Bobby Womack-It's All Over Now
Larry McCray-Midnight Rambler
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Santana & Scott Weiland do The Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Miss You -Sugar Blue
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Jamul - Jumpin' Jack Flash -

Bobby Womack-It's All Over Now
Bobhy Womack wrote "Its All Over Now". Stones' version was the first rock and roll song I ever heard, it was a revelation. Had their London single. b side was "Good Times, Bad Times". I clearly recall Bobby Womack's name under the title spinning around in circles at 45 rotations per minute.
Thanks for posting the original - I never heard it before.
