SAMMY HAGAR AND THE CIRCLE KICK OFF NEW TOUR: VIDEOS, SET LIST

Sammy Hagar and the Circle kicked off their new tour in support of their upcoming album Space Between at the Grand Sierre Resort in Reno over the weekend.
The 19-song set included five tracks from the record – opener “Trust Fund Baby,” “Can’t Hang,” “Devil Came to Philly,” “Full Circle Jam (Chump Change)” and “Affirmation.” A string of Van Halen songs also showed up – notably a rare outing for “The Seventh Seal” – along with songs from across Hagar’s career.
While the band had previously played a number of Led Zeppelin tracks onstage, only “Rock and Roll” was performed at the tour opener.
Hagar last year said that Space Between would probably be his final album; he also hailed his bandmates, bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson.
“Musically, it will hold up,” Hagar said. “Jason Bonham is the greatest rock drummer in the world and plays just like his dad. So, on this record, we’ve got that Led Zeppelin sound and feel. … [Anthony] is as good a rock bass player as anyone ever in the history of rock. And Vic, when he plays on this record, he’s bringing it all there.”

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Good set list. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I think it looked pretty solid. Seventh Seal was a nice suprise.

Just gotta enjoy Sammy. He needs to slow down so he will have energy when he gets older.
I must hear this version of “Poundcake” as it’s an Ed favorite of mine.

The Red Rocker has grown on me over the years as he's gone into his various projects, though I still regard him generally as 'radio rock' and find it all pretty dull. His new band and album are very good from what I've heard.
Hearing things like this, though, remind me just how much of a showman he is:
"[Anthony] is as good a rock bass player as anyone ever in the history of rock"
Uh, sorry... no he's not

Anthony was voted out of Van Halen by Eddie and Alex.
But that may not be an indication his bass player wasn't up to their standards. May have been a move to open the spot for Eddie's son Wolfgang.

he wasn't voted out. he was just never asked to come back after the tour they did with hagar around 04-05.
the band attempted to dump anthony in the early 80's

I was always OK with Michael Anthony keeping the bass parts pretty simple in VH. The songs had loads of great guitar work so there was no need to overcomplicate the rest of the arrangement. It kept things stripped down and focused.
His background vox are stellar. Remarkable range.

Cheapest face value ticket at the Northfield (Cleveland) Casino for them is $109.50 - ouch! A couple days later in Pittsburgh they are $55-71.50. I might think about going to that one.
