Rory Gallagher was completely anti-drugs. As in illegal drugs. Unfortunately he (mis)used lot's of prescription drugs later in life. Also alcohol became a serious issue later in life. And not around the time he was doing all those Rockpalast and Montreux shows. If he's hopping & jumping than that's his natural state. Suggesting other wise ain't so cool.

Didn't mean to suggest something that is not cool. I mused that because of what Butch Trucks said several times. "When I listen to old shows of the band...I can tell what kind of drug we were on by how the band sounds".

I'm glad Rory was clean during that stretch of his career. And certainly he wasn't using alcohol on that clip or he wouldn't have jumped across the stage on one foot and played too! I wondered if Rory had tooted up or if he just felt that good. And happily the answer is the latter.

Gregg would say you thought you sounded so much better when you were gassed but later if you heard a recording if the show, it was not so good and sometimes embarrassing.

Another of my Favorite Guitar Players. Rory had the energy of a thousand men. His live shows were amazing. He could Rock with the best of them, as well as play some of the best Blues tunes anywhere. Grab any of his releases and I'm sure you'll enjoy every moment...Sadly he died way too young, but his music and memory will last forever!
