Sorry to hear about actor William Hurt's passing. Always enjoyed him, whether he was battling the Hulk or in a news room. One role I think he was miscast was that of Gregg Allman in Midnight Riders, but he will always be part of the ABB legacy in a small way. Cancer sucks.

Yes and I understand Hurt died of prostate cancer which he had been fighting since 2018.

He was a fine actor making his film debut in 1980.

I'm watched the railroad bridge scene Porkchopbob with great interest. It is that scene that a CSX freight train came barreling down the track at 58 miles per hour. Hurt began running as fast as he could and he was hit by flying debris when the locomotive struck the bed lying on the track destroying it. Also Hurt injured his feet on the wood crossties and gravel on the track bed.

I wonder how long after the scene here did the train arrive? And sadly 27 year old camera operator Sarah Jones could not get off the rail bridge in time and was run over killing her.

Last I heard Hurt refused to participate in the film when they tried to restart shooting. Later the producers were sentenced to 10 years in jail for negligence homicide. I think they were paroled after 1 year behind bars.

Apparently the film is canceled and will not be finished.

Yes after seeing the footage on the bridge with Hurt as an older Gregg, Hurt isn't right for the part.

Apparently I see the Allman Brothers Band in this footage in a studio. The actor playing Duane has mutton chops which is the way Duane wore his facial hair but he doesn't resemble Duane that much and neither do the actors playing Butch and Jaimoe.

And do they have Dickey playing left-handed? They didn't cast it very well with the others either if that is supposed to be The Allman Brothers Band.

Shame the film was canceled and horrible the young lady lost of life. The crew assumed the producers had permission to be on that bridge but in the investigation, it was discovered CSX Railroad REJECTED their request to film on the bridge in writing TWICE!  No wonder some went to jail for negligence homicide.

RIP William Hurt...I’ve always been a fan from the minute he appeared on screen in “The Big Chill.”  Loved him in “The Good Sheppard” and many other roles.
