RIP David Crosby
I guess it was a long time coming ...
I always dug his music, loved his voice - especially his harmonizing with Graham Nash. Growing up in the 60s and 70s - he was one of those "soundtrack to my life" artists. I'd say he made his mark on this world.
About ten years ago CSN did a final tour over here in the UK ... we were going to be on vacation at the time a hundred miles away from the venue ... but they had been my wife's favourite artists since she saw them at Wembley in 1974 ... so I bought tickets and we did a day trip to go and see them in the middle of our vacation ... I am so glad that we did, it was a wonderful concert that I will always remember as my wife had tears in her eyes at the end ... just as she does now ... RIP DC
Side I of Deja Vu helped me through unhappy times as a young teen
he entangled the entire area - now he has proceeded to the next stop
All those wonderful CDs he did in his last few years -
Thank you David - love ya brother - your easy rest is well deserved, & may you sail the ocean’s currents forever - just like we’ll always have your music forever - we are indebted
what a huge loss . immense talent
@matt05 Yes indeed. I'm seeing a lot of negative things on TV and on line.
Stuff like why Stills, Nash got to the place they couldn't work with David Crosby or even speak to him anymore.
I'm not reading any of that stuff. I enjoyed the man beginning with the Byrd's and Woodstock and his talent was obvious.
Amazing songwriter and singer. Deja Vu was a huge part of my early teen years.
RIP
regarding the "dirt" on line, in Bill Graham's book, he describes a lot of infighting and jealousy in CSNY even in 71, so not surprised that they would have said bad things about him recently. I agree, I ignore that crap.
You may feel the criticism is unwarranted but if you saw his movie he fully accepts the blame. I also loved his voice and music but he was not a good guy. I recommend his movie for a full unvarnished assessment of his life as told by him.

Gotta have this, thx for reminder, had forgotten about it - does sound definitive - this one & Beware of Mr. Baker
what 2 songs go 1 to the other better than Orleans & I’d Swear There Was Someone Here - esp the latter - just amazing
I really dug Compass from that later CSNY album - he & Graham did a really good talk-show session on cable TV around that time, inside Track
could go on & on, who couldn’t
@harvey yes, in 2012 I got to see CSN for the one and only time, 2nd row in Wichita, and it was one of the top concerts of my life! The next day I got out the old stuff and played it, and it didn't sound nearly as good as what I had just heard the night before.
But I would be remiss if i didn't mention here the last 7 years. Croz released 5 studio albums, and one live album/dvd just 2 months ago of a 2018 show, and it's all amazing. I've spent the last week taking a deep dive into these recent albums and they are all amazing. He had so much to say before he died. Like Grandpa letting it all out. Telling it like it is. I highly recommend Croz, Lighthouse, Sky Trails, Here if You Listen, For Free, and Live at the Capitol Theater.

Back in 2011 my chiropractor was adjusting my neck and he mentioned he had an invite for a furniture store opening in Manhattan where Croz and Graham Nash will be playing. He couldn't make it. I said I'm there. We drove into Manhattan from the island wearing tie dyes and jeans. Most of the crowd are suits and dresses. Wine and cheese served along with some frozen tropical cocktails. I was about 10 feet from them. I remember Our House. Teach Your Children and I think one other. Then they split. It was great. Unreal. I tried to find the clip on youtube that the guy right behind me took but it's gone. Here's an article I found. RIP Croz. Thanks for the tunes. Thanks for the invite Dr. G.
"Furniture World Magazine on 5/17/2011
Arhaus reported that the lyrics of “Our House,” the hit 70s Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tune, wafted throughout Manhattan’s Meatpacking District last week when Arhaus Furniture presented David Crosby and Graham Nash in a special, invitation-only performance celebrating the 25-year-old retailer’s first New York store.
Nearly 600 guests filled the 28,000-square-foot location at 410 West 13th Street to enjoy some of the group’s legendary songs.
“The Arhaus opening in New York is our 38th store in the U.S., and it warranted a special reveal,” said John Reed, CEO. “To have such musical giants as David Crosby and Graham Nash singing such beloved classics like ‘Our House’ was a rare treat that has set the tone for the exceptional experience Arhaus brings to New York shoppers.”
Though it was an unconventional concert venue, the Arhaus store —with scores of plump-cushioned sofas, chairs, tables, beds, and rugs in well-styled and fully accessorized environments—turned out to be a uniquely intimate and homey setting.
“With that one single ‘Our House’ anthem, Crosby and Nash brought down the house at Arhaus,” commented Reed. “What better way to begin our New York venture?”
Edit: Here's a different video but you get the idea
@griff Cool Story! There's a BluRay from the 2012 tour and it's amazing. I've had it for years and I definitely did not spend $50 on it like it currently says on amazon.
@matt05 What I read is that Crosby was working on a new album, and tour for this year, and one of the band members had just added their vocal part to a song 3 days before his death so I don't think the new album was finished. What is bizarre is that the official statement said that he died of a "long illness" but those working on the new album were confused at that, saying he wasn't dying at all. He was creating an album and planning to tour. So what really happened to Croz?
gotcha. maybe theres enough leftovers from the last decade to assemble one more album?
