I realize that words like, "legend" get tossed around easily and quickly.  I also realize that most are scratching their heads and asking, "...Travis - who?"  Some are even asking, "was he related to Bobby Womack?  Check the spelling.

Scratching their heads wondering.  That would be most appropriate, as Travis was mostly known for an instrumental song called, "Scratchy".  The flipside of that 45 was another instrumental called, "Fire Fly".  Read the article - Travis was Little Richard's guitarist/musical director back in the early 70s.  He was visited backstage by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - both of whom were delighted to meet Travis, being familiar with his recordings. Jimmy allegedly told Travis, "I can play "Scratchy", but I can't play "Fire Fly".

As a Muscle Shoals session ace he played with everybody from the Osmond Brothers to the Staple Singers ... and just about everybody else who recorded in the Shoals.

This comes too soon after the passing of another Alabama musical giant, "Microwave Dave" Gallaher.  Tough days in Bama.

Here's Travis playing "Scratchy" back in 2011 (I believe).
