VIP prices have always been expensive.

That is typical for these package deals, regular prices will be way less.

The VIP packages for NYC are very steep but everything in NYC costs more.

The package in Philly for a first ten row ticket plus all that shwag for just $159 is a bargain and one I am very interested in. I did it a couple of years ago and had a blast.

If you're into the sort of extras that the VIP deals offer, it's actually a pretty good deal. Just the good seats and open bar and food will run you a few C notes in NYC pretty quickly so to get all the other stuff with it is pretty good.

I guess you guys are right. I just recall the days of seeing Mule with Derek opening for them for $15 or $20. Ah the good 'ol days....

Agreed. Those days are long gone but Warren for $ 40.00 the other night in an uncrowded venue was pretty great. $40.00 is the new $ 20.00 from 15-20 years ago.

I said in another thread that unless the ABB comes back some how, I think I'm done with the beacon except for the Mule on 12/30 which is long standing tradition. I'll buck up that one night.

Regular ticket prices will be $65 to $89 on MYE and $50 to $75 on the 30th plus the usual Ticket Bastard fees.

Is there a theme of covering a band this year or is it just a straight Mule set?

There will almost certainly be a 2nd set theme, but no word yet on what it will be

Thinking Neil Young theme for New Years.

I don't think they would repeat last years Halloween Neil show.

I am going to say with the lack off Mule shows after these dates and before it that the theme this year will be centered on playing Gov't Mule.

While I would be very happy with Sco-Mule, given the 50th anniversary, perhaps a Dead Set of Grateful Mule?

might be a good guess, but imho the dead sets have been over done by about every band in the greater jam scene. I would hope for something a little fresher.

I have gone front row balcony for most of the past 10 years or so, but decided to try the Orchestra experience (wife's idea) this time around for a bit of fun. Got 2 on the aisle on the right side so should be a good spot and view. Also, there is usually extra space to chill in the Upper Balc if we need a different vantage point during the 4 hours of MYE! Now we need to hear the theme!

What time does the NYE show traditionally end? Would I be able to catch a 3AM train out of town?

If you are going out of Penn no problem at all making a 3:00. They will likely go past 1:00am up to almost 2:00 but making a 3:00 is fine. If you need to get to Grand Central that takes a bit more time to get there from The Beacon.

Thanks mikesolo. I'm in! Pulled the trigger on both the train and concert ticket this evening. I've always wanted to do one of these.

It has been a great NYE for me and the Mrs for the last 10 or so years, so I am pretty sure you will be having a good time too. I've seen plenty of your posts so you know what kind of great music you are in for! It's a long, fun night so will see if we cross paths while there too.

Mike

I went with the Orchestra this time Northernman. I'll be row L on the aisle stage right. I think seat 27. It's a decent spot.

I hope to say hello!
