Couldn't do the Beacon because it's a weeknight, but I have 2 in the loge for the St. George !
I've been very critical of Dickey over the past 10 years or so and am hoping that he has the fire back !

$300 at the Beacon? I don't know about that one.

US $50.00 - US $300.00
US $50.00
US $300.00

Tickets on sale now at TM: $150 for Orchestra and first two rows of the Loge... the $300 must be a VIP or meet and greet package.

It was meet and greet that was $300 and then of course they have the plats currently priced at $260ish. Frankly even the $150 is a bit much from my perspective.

The $150 tickets run to $195 with TM fees. That's just too much for me for this show. I am sure the scalpers gobbled up a lot of the tickets, but in general, the show seems to have sold pretty well.

My laptop is not working right now and I don't know how to link with this Samsung phone. If anyone can link it, there is a video of Dickey rehearsing alone on Duane Betts Facebook page. It seem obvious to me Dickey didn't know he was being recorded.

Dickey is doing this as a gift to the people. He damn sho don't need the money.Add to that the man has been retired for 3 years, had health issue's,some very serious. And this ain't the place to beat my gum's about what.I will say the man is damn near 75,and like us all who have some age on our hide,is not the player he once was.I read this crap about he's just got a garage/bar band behind him.Man that is some rude, off the wall crap to be spewing here.Betts loves the cats in his band ,and they are damn good players and friends as well to him.So if your expecting the man to have the fire under him as some have said, and put on a show to the like's of the 70's,80's etc, well then keep your as* home. However if you wanna come and see a legendary member of the best damn band to ever walk this planet play for the people the last time, then come to Macon the 17'th.Otherwise please STFU with this grade school jive of holding the man under a microscope slide and jaw jacking about what he should and should not do,who he should have in his band, how he should play and what etc etc etc etc.Gimmie a damn break!
Oh and i can't omit the whining of ticket prices etc as well.Nobody is breaking anyone's leg to buy a ticket and go.So once again,ya got issue's etc with the gig,DON'T GO! Oh that's right,ya can't ,it's SOLD OUT!

The 8 shows Dickey is giving us are a gift . No need to analyze or dissect who he should play with or what he should play.
But I do have an idea : How about Dickey's band along with Warren and Matt from the original Dickey Betts Band play some of the cuts off Pattern Disruptive at Peachfest ? Loverman, Duane's Tune , Rock Bottom and The Blues Ain't Nothin'.
It's a going to be a fun summer with Dickey playing for us again.

Dickey is cleaned up now,and has been for quite some time.Fact still remain's the man is damn near 75 yr's old,and has lived a life that woulda put most of us 6 feet under. All the while Gregg was clean,Betts was still runnin full throttle.Add to that he's 5 yr's older than Gregg.
Dickey is gonna have to pace himself on this one last ride for the people. And that is exactly what it is! Him & Jaimoe are it,period. To want or think the man is gonna pull out stellar all stars and perform a variety of songs he hasn't played in damn near 30 yr's is asking too much.
The man has chosen to do this not cause he is on the verge of bankruptcy etc.He is doing it cause he knows the years are goin by fast ,and him and Jaimoe are the last of the tribe/original brotherhood.I know one thing,my as* will be there. And whatever, however, he chooses to play, is cool as a cooling board with me.And i damn sho don't expect him to put on a 3 hr show.On the other hand,ya never know with Forest.

Luke--Is this it for Dickey? A one off group of shows, and then he goes back to retirement?

His manager or his FB page manager basically said "Get tickets for these specific shows....it is goong to be a limited outing." I would not expect anything beyond what is announced and if there is more I'll consider it a bonus.

Less than 3 weeks til the Beacon show! Is there any intel on order of performance and about what time Dickey is likely to come on?

I've seen the Youtube vids of the Sarasota and Macon shows and my expectations for 7/18 are adjusted accordingly. Any word on whether Dickey and the band have been woodshedding since Macon?

July 15 is actually The Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue on Long Island. Gov Mule and one of the best ABB Tribute bands around The Allmost Brothers played there last year.

When it comes to Brothers tribute bands, these guys out of Knoxville are badass.

Well I know, once he gets started, can't stop that train! He likes to do it till he's done and it is usually more than a 2 hr. show. Why should he limit his joy? He loves playin' music.

Any chance for RELIABLE reviews of shows subsequent to the arguable debacles of Macon & Sarasota previously belabored here no end (nd not so artfully dodged by AP @jambands.com?)?....Just for those of us interested in musical performance as opposed to idol worship?!
