Monterey Pop Festival Documentary

This is only 42 minutes long and I thought it was really well done. Lots of interviews with musicians, organizers, etc who were there.
IMO Monterey Pop was a huge turning point in rock and roll. Even more so than Woodstock because it happened two years before Woodstock. Thank God D.A. Pennebaker and his cameramen were there. Here's a tidbit from a Festival attendee: "I sat there (in the 'bad trip' tent) and smoked hash with Hendrix for four hours. Am I supposed to say that?"

I've seen this and yes, it was so good! If you don't have the Monterey Pop Festival on dvd, I highly recommend it. It's so fun to watch. Pennebaker was on it! He also filmed Festival, about the Newport Folk Festival. That's a trip to the early 60's. I think it won some awards.

@pixielf: Yes I have the expanded Monterey Pop DVD, MUCH more than was in the original film, it is GREAT. The package also includes the original film and Hendrix and Otis Redding's entire performances. For anyone who's got $50 laying around it is money WELL spent!

Yes, it is a great package, This thread inspires me to watch again. Not sure I played the outtake portion the first time, looking at the songs, a major oversight. One of my favorite parts is watching Mama Cass watch Janis. Literal jaw dropped moment. Stunned. Priceless.

Love watching this and enjoying the music of so many great performers who are no longer with us. Wish some of that 1969 atmosphere were still around today to help ease the pain of so many who are suffering at no cause of their own. Long Live the Monterey Pop Festival!

@rcgp2020: Actually Monterey Pop was 1967, but I get your point.
