Kirk West Exhibit In Chicago

This should be cool. If you've never seen this place it's pretty neat. Small but nice. And John Primer is top notch as well. Easy to get to if you are around the Chicago area.

Might try to make it depending on snow..... although both of my books are already signed.......

It shouldn't be that bad by tomorrow. Heavy snowfall is supposed to stop by around noon today. No idea what the parking is like around there. We're probably going late afternoon / early evening tomorrow.

Gonna try for Sunday

Okay, got the skinny on the club. Says 4:00 - 8:00 but John Primer is probably going to start at 3:00. Not sure when Kirk will be there.
$10.00 cover for the afternoon / evening.

Events like this have never disappointed me, always worth it.
Enjoy!

Kirk’s Blues photos and John Primer is a great combo!

Home from the event. Pretty cool. We dropped a few names we both know from over the years. Couldn't believe he remembered a couple of the names. Took a few pictures. Hadn't talked to him in a long time. I was surprised we remembered a bunch of folks I haven't heard from in a long time.

Hey marco -
Haven't seen you in forever. We need to catch a show some time. One small bit of advice: If you want to hang with Kirk get there early. We did so which was nice because he and I got to chat for a while. By the time it officially started it got really crowded. There were actually photographers photographing it (Say that five times fast).
Anyway, it was really cool. Although John Primer wasn't there when we were for whatever reason. It's nothing that will take up your entire day anyway.
And a nice thing to add to this: Kirk was doing this as a fund raiser for Willie Dixon's Museum. It's a non profit which is cool. They are helping to keep the history of Chicago Blues alive.

I was there yesterday too and it was a fun event. They are doing some remodeling and plan to reopen soon.
They are hoping to get some of the people who recorded there in the past to come back for one recording as there aren't many left.
Kirk came upstairs to the studio and talked for about 20 minutes before John Primer played. He told his life story
and answered questions. He was very personable and entertaining. Even answering a question about Gregg and Cher's breakup.
John started around 5 and played for about an hour. He told a funny story:
around 40 or so years ago he was playing at Theresa's Lounge on South Indiana. He used to backup up Muddy and Howlin Wolf
in their bands and one time at the end of a set he started singing a song for the first time. At the end Theresa came from behind
the bar and headed towards him. She was known to carry a pistol in her apron. He thought she might shoot him. She reached in
the apron and threw a $10 bill at him and said "I didn't know you could sing m*therf*ker"
edit to add: the book is great! It brings back so many memories of this town in the '80s. It was great to see my old friend Lefty Dizz made the cocer
